Andy was there all day and while he has acclimated, it was pretty tough for them. Been a great season tho and from the looks of it, no torches to kill the season early unlike the last 2 years we’ve been here. In fact, just had a heavy snow shower/squall pass thru mby and picked up about an inch in a half hour. Winter is very much alive in GC.

Low of 11.1 (temp has varied by less than a degree since midnight) producing 4.8" in the last 24 hours. Steady light snow continues this morning. This puts me over 100" for the season and just a few short of climo.

Currently 18.0/8.3 after a low of 16.3 just before midnight. Temp steadied and rose a degree or two after that. Took 8 measurements to get a OTG and SWE this morning, amazing what the wind can do with 2-3 inches of snow. I have places almost a foot deep and some with almost bare ground. Highest wind was the 41 gust at 1:45 pm, but plenty in the 35-40 range. Still NW at 7 gusting to 18 currently.

2/18: 31°/19°

2/19: 28°/16°

2/20: 27°/17°

I’ll have to confirm but I believe this winter has the greatest number of sub-freezing highs imby since 2014-2015.

He's back in Deep Creek. We're kicking around the idea of meeting up next week and sharing a place on the Tug. I want to go to Ava, NY to check out possible rentals. I'm planning to spend next Jan in the town of Ava. Its ground 0 for lake effect.

Yeah. That's another famous snow town. I also like the town of Kosoag. Seems like a nice little country town. Everyone rides around town on  snowmobiles. Instead of biker bars they have snowmobile bars. It sounds like Ava is the most famous snowtown on the Tug.

@WxWatcher007 and I are discussing taking a week off in December this year and taking a tour of the Great Lakes. If there's a prime spot for LES at any point in that week, we'll be there. If not, then we will enjoy the scenery across the region. Hoping we can make it happen!

Awesome! I'd rather be on the Tug in December than January but my company doesn't shut down for winter until Jan. I'm shopping for a monthly rental. I found one place but she wants like 4k for the month. I'll do it if I have too.

Hey there! No, I came back Wednesday night...it was absolutely amazing experiencing that storm. I've done a lot of chases, including the big one in the Sierra last year (received over 100 inches in ~4 days) but nothing compares to the intensity of LES and this one in particular. I don't know how much I got but it was in the 4-6 foot range in a relatively short amount of time. And it isn't that far away...7 hours or so and the drive is super easy as nobody wants to be there lol.

That’s awesome. I do enjoy the drive to Syracuse. I think my coworker lives a bit further north of the city. He sent me pics and it looks amazing haha

Did you do an AB&B or VRBO?  A chase up to that area is on my to do list.

I do Airbnb. I hate hotels because there is no extra room to spread out and like being able to walk around the house while it's coming down and that can be any hour of the day. I've had creepy looks all bundled up at 3 AM walking outside a Holiday Inn lol. But, it gets a little tricky on the Tug because a) there aren't many places and b) the heaviest snowfall is often over the central part of the Tug where there aren't any roads, let alone houses. This past chase, I was absolutely convinced that the band was going to be south of my original place in Parish after the latest runs came in. So, I booked a second Airbnb, went there and didn't get an inch. So, I retreated back to my original place in Parish which was the jackpot. LES are so finicky and narrow that choosing your place is stressful. Misjudge the wind direction and might as well stay home with our partly cloudy skies. I study maps/models relentlessly until I find what I think is going to be the ideal place and roll the dice. I've been fortunate this year - both of my places hit the jackpot. 55 inches just north of Worth NY in January and this one in Parish with about the same amount.

I really hope there can be a group of people from here that can do chases together. It's awesome going solo, but enjoying it with someone else would be even better. @dailylurker count me in. $2K split for January on the Tug? If it is in Ava or nearby, I'll write the check today lol. Instead of bitching relentlessly about our shitty snow climo (which I admittedly still do), I've taken to chasing and it really is incredible experiencing that weather. It also mutes the simple fact we live in an area that just doesn't get much powder.

Now admittedly this is a lot to shovel but it’s so worth it. Airbnb owners usually contract with plows to keep things relatively clear but you still gotta dig out your car.

As long as my work and kids schedule doesn't conflict, I'm in if there is ever a group chase there.
