Fozz
1 hour ago, psuhoffman said: Why do some people prefer missing snow to the south v the north? I don't get the Boston hate for example. People in New ENgland deserve the snow more than me. It's supposed to snow there...they chose to live somewhere that averages more snow so they deserve it. When I move up there sometime for more snow...I will deserve to get the snow because I moved somewhere to get it! But the SOUTH??? Why does someone who knowing chooses to live somewhere that averages 10" of snow a year deserve snow? If they cared that much they would move somewhere that snows more. No... I would much rather miss snow to my north where the people who deserve snow are v people too lazy to move somewhere snowier. There is no such thing as “deserving” snow. Nobody is entitled to snow. It’s just something we hope to see, and where some places get more than others. But the atmosphere will do what it does.
snowmagnet
I have a question. What is the deal about Short Pump? North Balti Zen
I’m not even in area that will see much snow so not a note about my frustration with the model and all but… …can we all just agree not to ever ever ever use the hrrrrr during an unfolding winter event? Like, ever?

But it is close, and in borderline situations it’s worth knowing what LWX says for both Northern and Southern parts of the county. Thanks to you and Mappy. The other day Mays Chapel did reflect the north rather then the south. Much easier when we lived down by Mclean and Wolf Trap and were part of Ffx County.
Maestrobjwa
Today's snow hole has just bummed me out and put a damper on the day for some reason...and this is while I'm sitting here watching snow fall! Everytime you think you're past the negative ya find yourself slipping backward. But it's still snow! *Strains to be grateful for it anyway*

This storm is weak sauce for our area. I had a hunch this would be the outcome. At this point, if I get 2-3” I’ll be pretty surprised. Something in the overall pattern is just not favoring the normal distribution of snowfall…it’s actually getting kinda weird.

Maestrobjwa
I'm sorry but I'm just not feeling the Orioles this year. That sorry display in the WC round gives me zero confidence in our bats. They were softer than bread pudding and had zero mental toughness. I feel better about our pitching (still need an ace though). They're gonna have to win me over this year...because right now I am not enthused.

If high rate bands start training over 95, the crews will almost never be able to keep up. So then you get drivers coming either direction going at speeds appropriate for somewhat/mostly cleared conditions suddenly encountering a highway that's completely covered. Yeah.. good drivers would know to anticipate it but it definitely adds to the chaos. Also, 95 in NoVA is FILLED with MD drivers so don't be so quick to point a finger 100%. I swear MD doesn’t require a drivers test lol 2

Short Pump used to be a tiny little town in Henrico, where I grew up and still live. It’s now urban sprawl all to it’s boundary with Goochland. Lots of housing and shopping. Short Pump Town Center is about the last good brick and mortar mall around. A bunch of people live there and work at either Capital One or CarMax hq’s in Tuckahoe Creek nearby. The traffic blows and I avoid it like the plague unless I absolutely have to go there. A lot of people are landlocked due to jobs, older parents to care for, kids and what not so to suggest people are too lazy to move for snow is asinine.
