Have some blowing dust in the farm fields by my house. Pretty unusual for February

I had something in Wausau today, and traveing back on I-39 from Stevens Point to Portage was a pretty stressful drive with the blowing dust. Had a few plumes cross the road that were so thick it was hazards on and 45mph on the interstate for about a mile before it lightened up again. Would have expected that with snow on February 6th, not dust. Really goes to show just how it dry it has been period, frozen or otherwise, the last couple months.

This has turned into a nuisance 2-4” snowfall at best for the Twin Cities. Old patterns die hard.

No such thing as nuisance snow, but I understand the disappointment. It's been amazing to watch the totals decrease with every run. Terrible, awful, no good winter continues.

We’ve seen plenty of winter storm fails over the years around here but it has been truly so to watch this one go from potential 12” to possibly less than 2” in just a couple days. That dry slot is really going to mess things up for southern MN.

2.9” at MSP at noon. Snow is just ending so ~3” will likely be the final total. Definitely rallied hard with the weenie band that saved this from being a total bust.

The excitement of expecting 5-8".

The disgust at only possibly getting 1"

The relief of getting 3".

All in the same storm. Gotta love models.

pretty big bust so far here, most of the snow is just north of mt. pleasant. Had about 30min of light snow earlier, which laid down like 0.2", and I think we could get maybe 1" more with a slight south tick. GRR had us at 2-4" this morning. :(

Brutal cutoff with this thing. I thought I might be on the wrong side of that cutoff with the way the short term models were looking but it's been snowing here since about 1:30, sometimes pretty hard. If you go about 20 miles south of here, there's been pretty much nothing.

Early data in for Jan, and we are starting the year on a slightly negative note. Thinking this will end up similar to 2019 after the other datasets update later in the month. 5 & 10 yr trend charts shown respectively.

New dataset came online, so I'm now able to go back a little earlier to 1836. Here's the revised charts. 5 & 10 yr charts shown respectively.

Traveling south to Jackson. Left about 4 in snow under 1/2 mi vis. Get to Mt. Pleasant and just a smattering and little snow cover. The snow shield does sweep south later like they've had West of us. Snowing here in Jackson too maybe 1/2 inch down here so far. Good luck

Thanks man, yeah that heavier band finally ticked south a bit and we've actually got decent rates atm. i honestly just want the grass to get mostly covered, it makes the cold so much more palatable

MSP picked up 3-8” across the entire metro area. South MSP was forecasted to be on the low end
