sidewalks and untreated areas are icy, they put more salt down for this than they did during the snowstorm.

Had the slightest slippery area of the part of my driveway which doesn't get any sun, here in Garwood NJ (central Union County). Temperature was 34.

We should all get enough to wash away the road salt at least

right now with this very light rain your tires are washing it up to the underside of your vehicle - also radar returns to the south are moving mainly eastward with minimal northward progress and little precip  directly to our west - main batch of heavier precip is south of DC......

Still 31.6F here at 852A but incoming solar is melting driveway.  Picture from earlier... dangerously icy from 0.01 here.

Also sent a note to the mPing group on wx impact ...Icy sidewalks phrase not posting.

Had ice in Sparta too.  Schools were on a 2 hour delay.  In fact, I backed out into the street and the car promptly slid sideways a foot or two. which I was not anticipating (maybe I should have).  Definitely black ice.  The metric tons of salt still left over from the last one didn't really help a lot.  I heard they re-salted after I left.  The main roads were fine.

Hopefully some more rain materializes later.  The overall dry conditions continue to persist as we are already 2/3 of the way through MET winter.  Hopefully the pattern changes, in time to bring some more snow, but I'll take the rain too.

Why are you so hung up on making history? Its not even good history we are making - who wants to set a new record in regards to being dry and lack of snow?

Because any history is still history, it keeps things interesting.

I dont care about dryness, we've had decades of flooding and overly rainy patterns, now we're going back to what our climate should be.  Minus the above normal temps.

Only 0.02" here this morning. The evening batch of rain should be better. Hopefully a quarter to half inch for most of the area like the latest HRRR shows. We certainly need the rain.

it can wait for February 1st.  Although I will say I hate the way the calendar is arranged just based on math.  There is absolutely no reason for February to only have 28 days.  I would have given February one day each from January and from March and that would make the calendar much more symmetrical, with January, February, March and April each with 30 days (31 in February for leap year if you want).

January 31st should not exist.

Radar trends looking crappy for any decent rainfall totals for NNJ today / tonight.

Sitting at .04" so far today.  Would be very surprised if I get to .25".  Maybe just enough to rid us of the road salt, including what was dumped early this morning.

Best rains going north and south for most of this sub forum.  These were the trends over the last few days so not much of a surprise.

Not happening

damn fly on the cake. it does look like the real rain is going both south and north of us and the heaviest rain will be after midnight.

you can be damn sure if it we were cold enough to get snow, this would have been a virga storm.

By the way, January should not have 31 days (February should have more days to even out the months.) The first four months should have 30 days each.
