Well folks, with winter headed towards its final stretch it is time to start looking forward to Spring and Summer which means three things;

1. Heat

2. Humidity

3. Convection

Put all these three together and you can get some fun late Spring and Summer months with plenty of heat, humidity, and convection. In terms of severe convection, we're climatologically favored typically between mid-June and mid-July, however, we had had plenty of severe weather events in the past and some big ones during the late week of May and first week of June. While there hae been some significant localized severe weather the last several years, it has generally been rather mundane. Hopefully that changes this year. But we begin the countdown to May which is a beautiful transition month as we turn to deep Summer.

The countdown: 99 days!!!

This thread is so dam stupid.. in January of all things. Flat out Dumb!

Climotologically speaking we're not even half way there in terms of snowfall. Who knows what happens the rest of this winter but calling it the final stretch is a bit silly.

Edit: we still got 22-23 beat by a few tenths. Man that winter was rough. i had almost 75 days straight without any measurable.

Winter is headed towards it's final stretch.  I mean it's February later this week, the beginning of sun angle season and late winter. How can you argue?  It's not a wolf maybe, but maybe not, we just don't know, let's wait and see what happens.  We know.

? I'm not talking about met winter and the dates set forth that define those. I'm talking about snow climo, which i think is what most of us really only care about. It snows in March as much as it does in Dec.

Also astronomical winter isn't even half over, met winter sure its 2/3 the way there.

We’re approaching August in the summer equivalent of winter. It’s still hot and it’s still humid, but subconsciously you’re feeling that change in the sun. You can sense those shadows hitting differently. The sun still burns your ass, but you can tell it’s losing that bite. Deep summer is fleeting.

why wait until May?

   ...Southern New York/southern New England...
   Low-topped wintry convection may reach sufficient depths/mixed-phase
   to produce occasional lightning flashes through late afternoon or
   around sunset as a cold front spreads southeastward. Some convective
   influence to stronger wind gusts may occur as well.

Yeah, it's definitely a different vibe.  Some just can't let go
