We've actually seen them hanging on the rail pecking.  The guy who originally owned the house before my sis and BIL bought it (just over 20 years ago) had built a custom deck (it's like 15 ft wide by 25 ft deep) and used "indoor" wood banister-type railing as the deck rail (and then stained/painted it).

The little guys were also all over the wooden playhouse/swing set that my sis had when my niece was little.   You can tell the carpenter bee holes because they are perfectly round!  I remember way back having a carpenter bee make a "home" in my broomstick. :huh:

As an obs, I think I may be pretty much done and aside from a few flurries, it's overcast, breezy, and the temp has been dropping. Am down to 23 with dp 21.

I measured about 3.1" - which is technically a bust on the revised forecast, but the first NWS forecast was a winner.  Those last minute short-range revisions were fool's gold, in hindsight.

That all fell in about 3-4 hours, too.  From onset of snow around 11 AM to say 4 PM, we only had maybe 0.5" of accumulation here.

A little disappointing vs. the 4-6" NWS forecast early this morning (and my 5.1" prediction yesterday), but still a fun storm and everything looks great. Season total is up to 10.4", which is close to normal for this point in the winter.

Finished with 3.1" here.  At the low end of the forecast range, but that's fine, I enjoyed it from start to finish, and get to go through a few days of very cold with snow on the ground! This winter may not have any warning level snows here (yet), but I'm really liking it!

Seasonal total is now 8.0". Currently 23F.

Better safe than sorry?  Higher totals seemed to hold serve in the NW interior. Perhaps it seemed to necessary to hedge bets with Philly due to risk?

Nope, time stamp is 8:36 and by then all we had left was flurries. There is a big hill on the south side of Emmaus which often affects totals, but this wasn’t the type of storm where elevation mattered a ton. So I suspect someone measured in a bad spot or had a very shoddy measuring technique.

Yep, it's basically a "now-cast". I've had issues where it wasn't refreshing even though the time stamp on the image was up to date, and it had something to do with browser cache. It was super weird until I figured it out.

Here in Lower macungie, just outside of Alburtis  we had some wicked but nice localized snow banding. When the first band came through around 3 pm  the flakes were pancake size and lasted for over an hour. It was snowing at 2-3 inch per hour rates for nearly 1.5 hours. The another band came through around 5  pm and dropped some more heavy snow  1 inch per hour rates but the fluff factor with the snow flake was noticeably diminished I ended up with 7.8 inches.  The banding was expected and was a huge difference. The RGEM as well as final Mt Holly snow map showed the banding right over me.  Below was my original forecast  from days ago as stuck with the RGEM and my past experiences with these type of snow pattern events. 

 
 
The CMC has been holding strong and consistent this entire week for Sunday- Monday event, I find that refreshing. The GFS has been floundering and the Euro came back toward the CMC solution. The totals have been all over the place but it appears 6-8+ in may come more into line later tonight IMHO. I would post a thread later tonight after the OZ runs if the start aligning with my thoughts 0f 6-8 in. This would be a WSW event. A watch maybe needed by Sat morning if this scenario comes to fruition. The key will be the high snow ratios too. The storm may move quickly but the ratios and cold in...

Wynnwood, which is close to Ardmore, getting close to 4 inches seems right.

i work night shift and walk to work. Was quite an adventure getting to work. Now I’m leaving, dreading the cold! 
 

Turned out to be a fun storm in the end. I’m relatively pleased.
