Hurricane Agnes Posted yesterday at 02:51 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:51 AM 24 minutes ago, Violentweatherfan said: Is she sure they’re not from carpenter bees We've actually seen them hanging on the rail pecking. The guy who originally owned the house before my sis and BIL bought it (just over 20 years ago) had built a custom deck (it's like 15 ft wide by 25 ft deep) and used "indoor" wood banister-type railing as the deck rail (and then stained/painted it). The little guys were also all over the wooden playhouse/swing set that my sis had when my niece was little. You can tell the carpenter bee holes because they are perfectly round! I remember way back having a carpenter bee make a "home" in my broomstick. As an obs, I think I may be pretty much done and aside from a few flurries, it's overcast, breezy, and the temp has been dropping. Am down to 23 with dp 21.
21chuck Posted yesterday at 03:02 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:02 AM Seems like 2" and change in south philly. All fell in the last few hours of the storm. It was one of those events where the thermals were such that those in higher parts of town seem to have gotten near double what I did. I wonder if anyone in philly verified the Mt Holly forecast. Newman Posted yesterday at 03:02 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:02 AM My folk in Fleetwood measured between 7.5-8 inches around the yard and on the snow board.
CoolHandMike Posted yesterday at 03:11 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:11 AM Looks like an average of 6" overall. Very nice. Also while it started out pretty wet and heavy, it ended up being light and fluffy. The fact that it's now in the upper teens probably has something to do with that.
jwilson Posted yesterday at 03:19 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:19 AM I measured about 3.1" - which is technically a bust on the revised forecast, but the first NWS forecast was a winner. Those last minute short-range revisions were fool's gold, in hindsight. That all fell in about 3-4 hours, too. From onset of snow around 11 AM to say 4 PM, we only had maybe 0.5" of accumulation here.
Chadzachadam Posted yesterday at 03:23 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:23 AM Going with just over 3” here as well. Was hoping for 4 but it sleeted for like 3 hours straight
JSharp Posted yesterday at 03:32 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:32 AM Recorded 3.8 inches here in extreme western Delco. That dry slot prevented me from hitting the NWS 4-6 totals on their map. But it was a decent little storm regarding the snow rates between 5 and 7 PM.
hosj III Posted yesterday at 03:49 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:49 AM This can't possibly be the totals, right? I don't even think I got to 2 inches in Philly. Or is this just their not updated forecast?

Kevin Reilly
Just got in from shoveling 21f Total 3” total year: 8.3” top layer fluffy powder middle layer sleet could feel the granular texture. I would say we lost 2-3” due to sleet and that snizzle dry slot otherwise 4-6” would have been right on.

That's about 0.6" the last hour, as intensity wasn't as consistently high. Guessing we have another 20 min of moderate/heavy snow, then maybe another 30 min of light/moderate snow after that, so thinking we'll get to 3.7-3.8". Still a cool storm and we're going to have this snow around for a couple of weeks, which is nice (for me). As of 9:45 pm we had 3.5" OTG as intensity lessened more quickly than expected. I then shoveled, which wasn't too bad since I had shoveled the slushy bottom layer earlier and near the end of shoveling we got a bonus extended snow shower, picking up another 0.1" for a final total of 3.6". A trained spotter in Metuchen reported the same 3.5" as me at 9:38 pm and I saw a report of 3.5" in SI a few miles away. A little disappointing vs. the 4-6" NWS forecast early this morning (and my 5.1" prediction yesterday), but still a fun storm and everything looks great. Season total is up to 10.4", which is close to normal for this point in the winter.
KamuSnow
Finished with 3.1" here. At the low end of the forecast range, but that's fine, I enjoyed it from start to finish, and get to go through a few days of very cold with snow on the ground! This winter may not have any warning level snows here (yet), but I'm really liking it! Seasonal total is now 8.0". Currently 23F.

LVblizzard
1 minute ago, Kevin Reilly said: Suppose check the time stamps then possible that it was an earlier measurement before the snow stopped completely. Nope, time stamp is 8:36 and by then all we had left was flurries. There is a big hill on the south side of Emmaus which often affects totals, but this wasn’t the type of storm where elevation mattered a ton. So I suspect someone measured in a bad spot or had a very shoddy measuring technique.
CoolHandMike
1 hour ago, hosj III said: This looks like additional snow? It's much too low to be total snow. Yep, it's basically a "now-cast". I've had issues where it wasn't refreshing even though the time stamp on the image was up to date, and it had something to do with browser cache. It was super weird until I figured it out. Also Emmaus- two different measurements. Here in Lower macungie, just outside of Alburtis we had some wicked but nice localized snow banding. When the first band came through around 3 pm the flakes were pancake size and lasted for over an hour. It was snowing at 2-3 inch per hour rates for nearly 1.5 hours. The another band came through around 5 pm and dropped some more heavy snow 1 inch per hour rates but the fluff factor with the snow flake was noticeably diminished I ended up with 7.8 inches. The banding was expected and was a huge difference. The RGEM as well as final Mt Holly snow map showed the banding right over me. Below was my original forecast from days ago as stuck with the RGEM and my past experiences with these type of snow pattern events. The CMC has been holding strong and consistent this entire week for Sunday- Monday event, I find that refreshing. The GFS has been floundering and the Euro came back toward the CMC solution. The totals have been all over the place but it appears 6-8+ in may come more into line later tonight IMHO. I would post a thread later tonight after the OZ runs if the start aligning with my thoughts 0f 6-8 in. This would be a WSW event. A watch maybe needed by Sat morning if this scenario comes to fruition. The key will be the high snow ratios too. The storm may move quickly but the ratios and cold in...
