i am in manhattan did not hear any thunder..

You gotta be close to it.  Christmas 02 I was 3 miles maybe on a straight line form LGA and heard numerous claps of thunder but the airport never reported it.  Its usually only audible due to the snow absorbing the sound and the lightning sometimes being obscured form nearby

Been snowing moderately to heavily for the last hour and as of 5:45 pm we're up to 1" at 31F, so 3/4" in the last hour (had about 1/4" all day sadly). Radar looks great and if we can keep up good intensity through maybe 9 pm we might just get to 4".  Big dendrites - very pretty out there.  Just got done shoveling and I would imagine my experience is similar to anyone near or SE of 95 - we had slush underneath, then snow on top and it was a bit of work to get the bottom layer up - but it'll be impossible by late tonight, I think.  So shovel.

As of 6:45 pm we had 1.75" on the ground at 30F, so another 3/4" in the last hour and right now it's just puking heavy snow (likely >1"/hr rates).  Just went out for a drive to White Rose because I love driving in the snow and, duh, we love us some White Rose on a snowy day.  All secondary roads are snow covered and icy, while Route 1 was mostly wet, but snow was starting to accumulate on it.

This band over Brooklyn is insane. Heavy accumulating snow. Temp down to 30.

Nice! Enjoy it. If anyone deserves it. It is you. But I've told you many times over the years. Move to Orange county NY if u like snow. Warwick, Florida, Goshen, Pine Island etc.. Half the people there are NYPD and FDNY.

Radar looks excellent for city and coast. Would like temps to drop another 5 so we can get ratios, but for now it’s heavy man snow

We’ll drop some more in the next couple hours, it’ll be in the 20s by the time snow ends. Would like to see bigger flakes for better ratios but next few hours will be fun regardless. Ratios are mostly determined by the snow growth in the cloud, you want it -12 to -18C in the snow growth and strong lift. Lousy snow growth initially is why we were dealing with dippin’ dots.

Stop trolling, it’s been sticking for a while now, even on the streets. Coming down hard.

Perhaps you're getting a jackpot, but I'm not.

Here on the UES near 90th St, it's thin snow and at most a half inch on snizzle on the roads.
