Hold steady and convince her not to drive unless absolutely essential. Especially if she's an inexperienced driver. It's not worth the risk.

It's had this enhanced area over the northern 1/2 of the island for the past several runs. Maybe that'll actually happen to some extent. Other than that it's the same concern about the banding west of us causing subsidence. We'll have to go to town when the meat of the coastal system comes through. One good thing is we'll have time to cool down by then.

Just a guess, I think this is going to be a general 3-4 inches for the entire metro area, the elevated areas of NJ and in Orange County NY should see some higher numbers. This thing is really flying, looks like it’s going to be all over around 11pm tonight
kat5hurricane
Very light, very wet snow here. I know it's going to wet blub eventually but I wonder if some of the projected totals near the city and out east might be a little too high due to losing some accumulations because of warm temps at the onset. I think the lower end of the 3-6 inch forecast is realistic.

RU848789
As of 2:30 pm, we have a dusting on colder surfaces (a bit on some paved surfaces), as we missed most of that last band the west of us - looks like it hit P'way nicely. Snowing lightly and down to 34F.

Wxoutlooksblog
Snow is just nw of me. Graupel/sleet just sw of me. Hoping the colder air works its way in in time for snow to pile up more than an inch or two here. I still have Snizzle. GGEM may be out-performing other models we'll see. EWR757
The band in eastern PA is solid, 3/8 SM or less visibilities at MUI, LNS, MDT, MRB and RSP. That should provide some moderate to heavy snow for the NYC Metro area this evening before the snow comes to the end.

It's going to be close as this system is going to move very quickly northeast and the timing of the heavier precip and influx of cold air is all important.
