Its nice to get back to what folks seem to call “an old fashioned” winter compared to past 5 seasons at least. Crazy to think the last several winters up here have had +8 type departure months. We knew once it flipped a bit it would feel ridiculously cold and snowy. Totally. Would be nice to get a monster storm to cap things off! 16-17 had Stella, which at Sugarbush gave us 42" in about 48 hours on the heels of that huge late Feb thaw. The ground also completely thawed in most places with decent sun exposure. Last night was third consecutive with temps >32. i highly doubt that. I know that you are in the banana belt of SE NH, but I don't see how the ground could be completely thawed after a couple warmish days. I could buy they top 2-3" being thawed, but not completely. Exposed areas are frozen, but under the deep pack it’s not that bad. My 4” and 8” depths are 32° each.

Having had at least 6" of pack since Thanksgiving night, I'm confident that the ground under the current 19" is unfrozen. Under our driveway the frost is probably 3-4 feet deep. 3.5" from 0.34" LE, with a trace of FZDZ on top. Probably 5"+ in the pack now, about the median for 2/28 (though likely below average).

It’s not second place for late Feb. I’m dammed if I do, dammed if don’t lol… rubbing it in or downplaying it depending on your viewpoint. Just let the stats fall where they are… it’s a solidly above normal snow winter, but not the best in even the last 8 years. A good winter. It was in 2nd when I wrote this. Now tied for 4th so sensy
