my first sled was a '96 Ski Doo grand touring, which was awesome as it was my first, but after a 100 mile ride on ungroomed trails one day, I was ready to light it on fire. once I saw the new REV, I sold the GT, and bought a new '04 Rev ($4k), which was an unreal sled. I think @dryslot had one around that year. next I bought an '11 Renegade ($7k), which was miles ahead of the '04. wrecked that one against a tree in a slow-speed crash that took out the right a-arm and bent the tunnel. now I have a '19 Enduro ($12k), which is the nuts. but I still can't believe the prices now. I have less than 2k miles on it, so I just might have it forever.

Pretty much the same trajectory as me.  Not including my 70’s sleds as a poor teenager, I had a 98 Skidoo GT triple - smoothest best engine ever.  Then I got a 2007 GTX 600 which was really nice and great with a kid. Then got a ‘ 11 1200 gade which I promptly put a set of walker evans and Fox clickers and that was my last ride.  I sold all sleds when my son left for college 2 yrs back but I might get suckered into grabbing a 1200 enduro used if I get a low miles one.  I know exactly how I want it set up

Prices on everything is crazy-crazy, I wanted to get another Toyota Tacoma and have a hard time pulling the trigger on current prices.

Most places in NH have a speed limit of 45

The number of people injured or killed on rental sleds in NH makes me wonder if the governors on the sleds shouldn't be set lower.

I saw those trails, but they didn't take us on those. I saw people whizzing by into those trails while we puttered along in the slow lane.

Great pic Jeff.  Getting away and doing something you love in the snow, does wonders for the soul.  Puts things into a much better perspective than just getting angry at what we may or may not be missing out on at home.

Below was from Sunday morning at 10 am…leaving for Canada that morning…trails were absolutely Superb.

My favorite "modern style" sled is still my 2003 REV X 800. Best handling/riding of all. Least favorite was my 2007 XRS, 2010 XRS was great, but still not as fun as the '03. I'm going to find a good one and restore it eventually

Wasn’t that long ago that 60” was a crap season IMBY. How the mighty have fallen.

I know. I can’t even fathom 60” now lol.

This rough stretch is a great “Reset.”   I honestly think it was needed for all.  But especially so for the younger guys in their 20’s and early 30’s.  Because they didn’t live through the extremely lean years of the 80’s, which set in after coming out of the late 70’s big winters.  So as tough as this has been to tolerate, it was essential to reset expectations.

But it can stop now, and let us have a little bit of love…we get/have gotten the message now.

We’re going to do 200+ tomorrow I think.

That’s a big day...enjoy and be safe.

Saturday we did St Agatha down to Oxbow(Homestead Lodge), and looped back up.  That was a tad over 200 miles(pretty much 100 miles out, and then another 100 back around). But conditions were outstanding the whole way…so it was a pleasure.

It’s 105 from here to Pittston Farms so 210 round trip.

A lot of people like those revs.  That was the first modern style sled no?  I want to say my 800 triple was my favorite sled…if the trails were smooth.  I rode in upstate NY so not a thing.

Well, it was the first “Rider Forward” design…and Doo came up with the idea, and the name “Rev”(which is short for revolutionary.

Then the other 3 manufacturers started to go to that idea because it was such a radical/revolutionary idea, and it was so much better in every way than the low/sit back style that was used since the inception.  So it was truly “revolutionary” in the snowmobile industry.  But in the 22 years since, they’ve still improved massively, and are leaps and bounds ahead of that original 03 Rev.

In my defense, the 38" I had after moving up here last winter was the most I had ever seen up to that point... This is my first full winter up here

Oh yeah, even a dud winter will seem like a blockbuster if you’re coming from down south.

This winter at least has been cold enough to keep the snow around even if we haven’t gotten a lot of it. I think I’m already working on about 40-45 days of snow cover which is honestly kind of amazing given I’ve barely breached 30” on the season. Might crack 60 days this year if we can add something in the next 10-14 days.

I don’t snowmobile recreationally to know what it’s like (I’ve only done some limited snowmobiling at the resort for getting from point A to B), but to travel 140 miles in a deep winter environment sounds intriguing.  Thats covering some ground.
