dryslot
Just now, Typhoon Tip said: no it sucks... nothing' to see here - ha Imagine if this happen now, with the modernity of physical society: "People in New England, and in its geological extension southward through Long Island, have felt small earthquakes and suffered damage from infrequent larger ones since colonial times. Moderately damaging earthquakes strike somewhere in the region every few decades, and smaller earthquakes are felt roughly twice a year. The Boston area was damaged three times within 28 years in the middle 1700's, and New York City was damaged in 1737 and 1884. The largest known New England earthquakes occurred in 1638 (magnitude 6.5) in Vermont or New Hampshire, and in 1755 (magnitude 5.8) offshore from Cape Ann northeast of Boston. The Cape Ann earthquake caused severe damage to the Boston waterfront. The most recent New England earthquake to cause moderate damage occurred in 1940 (magnitude 5.6) in central New Hampshire." Over the years we've had several in the 1-2 range, This is like the 4th one i have felt.

Curious what @rimetree felt since he's probably one of the closest to the epicenter. It was a big explosion and several large rumbles here. My sister said it was like a sonic boom and then a train coming, her office is right in York Harbor so she was pretty close.

NeonPeon
Went skating on the pond again. You never know when it'll be the last time. Definitely the last time in this little stretch, the warming was making it start to sound a little sketchy, and it's open water in places from yesterdays melt.

Only quake I've felt was on Jan 9, 1982 - awakened us on a cold (-23) Saturday morning. My wife felt a significant (~5.0) aftershock 2 days later, but I didn't notice as I was driving home from work on a bumpy gravel road. Epicenter was near Plaster Rock, NB and 5.8 or 5.9. About half of Maine had effects of a 5+. It caused several hairline cracks on our foundation, which became leaks during the very rainy April of 1983. 2

That tells us the threat is over Yeah this one looks dead unless we see wholesale changes to the leading low. Little clipper in Canada screws us which is too bad. We still get the cold press but we’d need the southern stream to slow down to make it good. Though there could be another one right behind it that might be worth tracking.

Scooter sometimes disappears when he knows he’s gonna melt and be negative and understands he needs a break (which is now) And when you’re posts dwindle it’s because the threat is over
