Snowcrazed71
I really had high hopes this Winter. Again..all the ingredients were there for a great run of Snow for our area. Nothing ever really panned out. It is so disappointing to say the least ( and both major models did a horrible job showing loads of Snow for us too ). Seems like anything that could have gone wrong, did for our area. Of course areas to our north have done very well, and areas down in the mid Atlantic same ( geez, even the actual Gulf coast has a crazy Snowstorm!! ). We couldn't buy one if we tried. Anyway, could there be a surprise for us as we head into March, sure, but not holding out anymore hope. Now, on the positive side, we have had cold weather, and what snow we did have ( albeit on the lower side ) has stayed on the ground.... So at least it felt like Winter. As we've said the last several years, " Maybe next year ".

The height gradient is a little more torpid during, ...thanks in no small part to the -EPO break down shutting off the deeper cold supply. But, there will be a window where a couple of event could transpire before the continental cold washes out to whatever that deep range above normal becomes. May have to contend with one or two more systems in that stretch. But, yeah... beyond that as we head into March, there are three concepts suggesting warmer rather than colder: - the deeper range teleconnector spread is neutral +EPO/-PNA/+AO; - La Nina spring climo; - recent decade of springs have hosted some bombastic warm spells... probably attribution-related.

HoarfrostHubb
A pattern change might bring some warmth, but could also change the flow and maybe we can score a coastal or two.

weatherwiz
It's crazy what years of essentially no snow depth will do to the eyes. My snow depth is literally like 4" but it seems like a foot

I used to love doing that as a kid during recess in Elementary School. Myself and a few others (sometimes I think I may have even been alone) would walk across the snow and try not to break. Good times. That's how it is outside now...though I am going to have to do some serious work outside after. This isn't good for the dog and it's even worse since he never did fully recovery from the spinal stroke in July. He doesn't even want to go outside to use the bathroom. He just slips and falls on his butt.
