I'd say rates are about 0.25-0.5" an hour right now. I wouldn't say it's pouring down but I'd give it a moderate snow designation. Random side note, to those who remember the golden age of The Weather Channel, does anyone remember getting excited whenever they would see the giant snowflake icon on the WeatherStar4000+?

Just asking, no one take this the wrong way please but what is the difference between this thread and the 24/25 observation thread and or the thread we already had for the storm? Just get cumbersome checking multiple threads for updated information.

Some folks like a storm specific observation thread as the other thread is for forecasts and the timing is often very different for the arrival of precip in the forum area.

Just did a 10 mile run. First run in the snow in YEARS for me. Started out as tiny flurries, but by the time I finished the sidewalks were getting slick and everything was white. I'm at work now, but when I left the house it was snowing moderately at 25 degrees. Cranking right now at my office off VW drive. We will see if it stays.

In Clarksville. Dime to nickel sized flakes and a lot of em. I’d say lighter side of moderate. Supposed to really ramp up in the afternoon hours. Maybe 1/2 inch but it farted around for a couple hours out there. Radar showed snow since like 3am but I’ll be damned if my eyes saw any until about 6.

29°, 91% humidity, 25° DP.

We share a last name but man if we couldn’t be any more different.

Goot question @matt9697

This thread is supposed to be Observations only. Photos, text descriptions, and even complaining about mixed precip.

Slider original thread is the nowcast thread, formerly forecast thread.

IT issues have to go in Banter or somewhere else. Please y'all.

And now I'm going to blur those rules with a radar shot, lol! While North Alabama was turning to snow, North Mississippi rain line is moving north. Southern Tennessee, we're going to be biting our finger nails the entire time. If I have an actual forecast (rather than freaking out) I'll put it in the Slider nowcast thread.

One thing I would like to ask:

It doesn’t happen so much here, but when I look at other websites/forums, people will post “it’s snowing at my house”……..but I have no idea where that is.

There’s a lot of new people, and those who lurk but never post. So please add your location when posting an observation.

Carry on

This Obs thread is strictly for winter storm Cora happening right now, The 24-25 Obs thread is for general observations throughout the year when things are happening that might not necessitate their own unique thread.  We do all of this so that it makes it easier to go back and find information on certain storms we’ve covered.
