It sleeted here for 2 hours. Then it stopped and now it is starting to snow, no sleet. I am under heavier returns now. I think there must be a higher dry layer that is getting saturated. I am 25 miles north of Augusta, GA.

Have seen reports of nearly 3 inches in west Atlanta suburbs (Paulding county) and a friend in McDonough south of the city saying there is at least an inch.

RAH has onset much later than many of the news outlets which are saying 12-3. I am guessing somewhere in between, around 4ish for the triad.

Can't quite believe that with this type Miller A that Asheville is only showing 2.5 inches.  Coming in from the southwest is usually our best set-up,

There really aren't any models showing precip before around 5pm, but also these overrunning events tend to start 2-3 hours earlier than modeled (at least as far as light flurry action goes)

100% agree.  I'm expecting snow into CLT by noon and the triad by 2.  Many posts from GA saying the precip was a couple hours ahead of schedule.

I think i've got about 2" now! Snow keeps mixing back in to my sleet. Kids are going to try sledding the hill!

FWIW the snow that initially breaks through is drier than what we usually get. Some of the overperformance might be because it is starting out at 10:1. Also not losing any to cool the ground, which is nice.

RAH is dropping the ball on this one..that's a huge difference with massive impacts. IDK what model guidance they were looking at

FV3 has accumulating snow in the Triangle in 6 to 7 hours.
