January 10/11 Winter Storm Potential - May the Odds be Ever in our Favor

So, things are pretty much over for DFW (near the airport) now.   I ended up getting another 1/2 inch or so of snow over night and there are a very few flakes mixed with light “frizzle” falling right now.  Total for my house (8.3 miles NNE of the DFW) is we’ll call it 1.75” of accumulation.   This is slightly under the  NWS forecast of 2 to 5 inches.  It will be interesting to see if the “what happens in Dallas happens in Raleigh” hypothesis holds true.

I needed to be about 30 miles north of here to have really cashed in so that part sounds familiar. There’s definitely enough to play in so your kids can still have fun though.

Thanks for letting me hang back out with you for the event and I will be reading to see how it all shakes out for the SE.

So you did go ! Good for you!! May you get crushed with heavy sleet and snow . You definitely deserve it!

.

Thank you! Just woke up and looked out window. Can see a tiny accumulation on roofs, grass, and vehicles of what I assume is sleet here 40 miles NE of Atlanta in N Gwinnett county (2 miles S of I-85 and 6 miles N of Lawrenceville).

Are you near Buford?

That band SW of Atlanta is putting down accumulating snow in places that haven't seen it in a long time. Have seen reports of heavy snow covered roads as far as 50+ miles south of Atlanta.

That’s crazy that far south!

it’s snowing here and we aren’t that far apart so hopefully it starts there soon if it hasn’t already

NAM appears to be wrong in a good way.

I was thinking it has it nailed for my area. 30 miles south of ATL. Sleeting 29 degrees. About half inch on the ground. Should flip to rain soon, closer it gets.

Will be close if they reach 1 inch, changeover line approaching fairly quick now.

Yes. It's still a possibility, but at least Atlanta will have its first meaurable snowfall in just over two years. Charlotte's record 1,076-day streak without measurable snowfall should also end later today.

SNINCR 1/1 this hour so at least 0.5 or as much as 1.4 so far

Still waiting to saturate here, but hopefully shouldn't be long as better rates are slowly starting to push in.

The heavy bands keep setting up south of ATL this morning, seems like heavier precip by me. That should start to head up your way.

This forum is obviously full of Carolinians, barely barely a peep from GA.

I’m a proud Georgian who has watched the sleet change to all snow last 30 or so minutes! Beautiful and sticking to everything! Easily over 1/2” already from window estimate!

It's moving NE and should be on top of me shortly.  I probably have 1/2" at this point, hoping to get those waffle flakes they have been having in downtown ATL.
