I believe the bigger totals just to my south in Columbia and Pikesville. Driving into work today at 4am the snow intensity was much greater once I got off 795 and on 29. Seeing what some od you actually look like is always interesting to me, lol All of us talk to each other but we only know by username. I'm always curious what folks actually look like! CAPE Posted yesterday at 05:27 AM Share Posted yesterday at 05:27 AM Slept through most of the ULL snow, but looks like maybe an inch. I'll do an official measurement tomorrow but that would put me over 9".
pazzo83 Posted yesterday at 05:36 AM Share Posted yesterday at 05:36 AM the snow is REALLY blowing around out there - wouldn't be surprised if we see some ground blizzard conditions tomorrow
Deck Pic Posted yesterday at 05:55 AM Share Posted yesterday at 05:55 AM DCA - 7.2" BWI - 6.6" IAD - 5.1"? That may have to be adjusted? Did they pick up no snow after 7 pm?

MillvilleWx Posted yesterday at 09:24 AM Share Posted yesterday at 09:24 AM With skies beginning to clear out, winds will begin mixing more efficiently to the surface. Blowing snow will be occurring this morning and afternoon before subsiding later. It is truly deep winter in Edgewater with snow blowing off the roofs of houses with locally reduced visibility occurring. Peak climo for snowfall in these parts too, so there is low probability of much melting today outside some very sunny spots.

Seeing little snow devils spin up in the open areas is cool though.

aldie 22
Looks like the ULL left some decent accumulations here. I finished shoveling yesterday at 2:30 and everything looks to have close to 2" added which would put Aldie on the + side of 7". It's really pretty outside and damn frigid with the winds I slept like a freaking rock last night!

I don't mind (working at home) Up until the 2010 storms (and really until the 2011 storm), MoCo consistently forgot about my street. They've been worlds better the past few years - sometimes we'll even see a plow before the snow has even stopped and additional ones after. I'm a little surprised we haven't seen one yet with it not being double-digit snow. But I'm guessing it'll be at some point before noon today. With the frigid temps, my guess is they had to exit the subdivisions to spot treat icy spots on the major arteries.
vastateofmind
Low of 21, winds picking up. No plows yet here, but someone was obviously doing donuts in the cul de sac... 1

MN Transplant
9 hours ago, Deck Pic said: Final 8". I think snow growth this morning was the main inhibitor to higher totals. Yeah, I only tacked on 2.5" from 7am to close yesterday on 0.33" precip. Not even the later snow helped with the ratios (and I didn't get that much from the ULL pass, certainly not 2"). Final, 7.7" on 0.84" precip. The IAD number seems strange, but there is another observer in Sterling Park that has the same 5.1". When everyone fills in the CoCoRahs reports we'll see if that looks like a bad measurement.

mattie g
A weenie in Burke reported 9.6". I guess it could have happened, especially if I had some compaction once the sleet started yesterday. Since I didn't measure until well after that flip, I may have shorted myself. Curious to see if other nearby spotters report similar.

wxdude64
LOL, walked ON TOP of the snow to do the CoCoRaHS report this morning, which I had to chisel through to get the SWE. Had light freezing rain/drizzle and sleet yesterday morning which froze solid once temps started dropping in afternoon. This stuff will be around a while, currently 5 inches on the ground, 18.3/11.0.
