HRRR still has a couple hours of light snow with the ULL this evening and a general .5-1” additional of snow. If nothing else, will freshen up the shoveled areas.

Perhaps expectedly, The projections for this back end snow keep steadily decreasing. Yesterday, at this time, we were talking about maybe picking up a couple more inches later afternoon until about 1 a.m. this morning. Now, we seem to be setting the bar at maybe 1 inch.

Somebody is going to get more than an inch from this. I can guarantee it.

Yeah but the radar is looking decent now for dc metro and we have until about 9 or 10 pm before it shuts off.

Kinda looks like things are trying to fill in down here, as well. Could be the start of the backend goodness.

Just quoting myself because I think I got this one right . The little "band" I was mentioning then blossomed and started dropping dendrites about 30 minute after this. Been snowing since - even moderately - and now the radar is filling in.

I frankly don't give a f*ck what the HRRR says. It's garbage. As Elsa once said: Let it f*cking snow!

We should temper expectations about tonight. Models are depicting rapid deterioration after crossing the Apps. This could be the headfake they're depicting.

Hope I'm wrong. I've been kind of looking forward to this the whole day. Would leave a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth for this to be pulled last minute after such a nice storm.

I’m going to go ahead and not do that lol.  Gimme my 3-5 inches of backside fluff.

Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are possible later
this afternoon and evening between 4-11pm. Some localized amounts up
to 4 inches are possible mainly along and west of the
Alleghenies as well as in areas that see heavier bands move
through. Snowfall rates of 0.5" to 1"/hr are possible with a
fluffier consistency to snow as colder/drier air works in.
Temperatures will continue to hold in the mid to upper 20s
outside the mountains. Lows tonight will fall into the mid to
upper teens. Snow will wrap up tonight around midnight outside
the mountains with increasing winds and gradually clearing
skies.
