Definitely hitting our stride in DC proper the past hour or two with even lighter returns showing up with pretty good rates. Very fine flakes falling but still coming down pretty hard. Eclipsing 6' at the moment.

You forgot an apostrophe, lol 6 feet is an insane cut-off

Girlfriend measured 5” with measuring tape (lol) - guessing with compaction my spot on H & 1st NW in DC might’ve hit 6”. Tricky to say.

I am always skeptical relying on wraparound, it usually never gives as much as expected. I am just shy of 7" so we'll see.

Calling @ravensrule.

It’s crossing my mind. Given my curse and that I am moving in March, maybe I will go near you and end snow for all-time in Burke.

It's a nice town with lots of different housing options. Plenty of activities in town and nearby, great schools, and plenty of food options!

We get snow, too. Not a ton, but enough to usually keep me from going off the edge. Like today. Today is nice.

About 5.5 inches down here in Bethesda just a mile or so across the DC border.   Was just outside with the kids for the last hour and saw everything from fine pixie dust snow, to sleet, to fat flakes, to nice moderate/heavy snow over the course of that time.  Fun wintery day.

These yellow bands that roll through are some real dumpers. The difference between max totals and lower end depends on getting under the yellow. I've been on a heater and keep lining them up.

That's happening here now. 1.5" in the last hour.

Right at 7"

Hrrr showed northern Md getting 6-10” last night. I don’t care what it says, ever again.

So many of us want it to be true, but the HRRRRRRRRRR is going to let us down. I am NOT letting this convince me of anything other than that the extended HRRRRRRRRRR sucks.

Looks like around 5.2" for the total so far in Colesville. told coworker originally 3-6 and then 4-8. Then last night I bumped up to 5-10 with isolated higher. Kind of wishing i had stuck in my original range. It'll still "hit" but let's see what the PM stuff can do.

6.7 in Annapolis :snowing:

I just measured exactly 7 inches in Annapolis. That was my first time making it outside today, so there may have been a little compaction as well. Hoping to squeeze another inch out of the first part of the storm and then get another 2 inches tonight to top double digits

No doubt places north got the shaft. All the talk of the usual north ticks near the end did kind of happen, but ground truth looks to not have followed suit.

Ya it ticked north, all the way up into central pa haha

Anyone that entrusts in the long range HRRR doesn't see what its capable of in the convective season. I've seen it wrong by a lot at hour 3

HRRR is better than probably any other operational model at nailing bow echo/MCS structure and propagation after these things have already initiated. It's pretty much what it was designed for and the way it assimilates radar reflectivity is very different from models like the NAM or globals for that matter. It has a wheelhouse

I'd agree with this very much. That's its actual purpose. It's a mesoscale focused model thru and thru.
