At 12:15 nothing. Checked again at 1:45 and our stone courtyard is covered, including the furniture and grill. Not a lot, just enough to trun things white. It must be very fine or on a pause, as looking down from our BR, with the courtyard lights on, I cannot see any flakes. Then again, my distance glasses are downstairs…

Location near Shady Grove Rd and Rt 28 (Key West).

It will.  Luckily for me I work nights -- my job closed for snow -- and I'm a night owl, so I am staying up all night.  We may not be as young as we were in the past storms, but when you get storms like this... all nighters are required reading

Indeed.  I've been up since 0500am Sun mornning - worked outside most of the day and then on my Kubota to transition it from construction mode (Loader and Backhoe for a retaining wall project) to winter mode - cab, heater and snowblower or blade.  Been a long day but can't quite muster the common sense to go to bed.

It's really ripping here now at 26F.  FFCO is plowing Lawyers Road already with barely an inch on the asphalt.  Guess if you have a budget and charge codes they have to use it.

Mesoscale Discussion 0019
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0112 AM CST Mon Jan 06 2025

Areas affected...eastern West Virginia and northern Virginia into
   the DelMarVa

   Concerning...Heavy snow

   Valid 060712Z - 061215Z

SUMMARY...1+ inch per hour snowfall rates are expected early this
   morning.

DISCUSSION...A band of moderate to heavy snow has developed across
northern Virginia amid strong isentropic ascent and frontogenesis
early this morning in response to a strengthening low-level jet.
Evidence of this can be seen on the FCX VWP where 1.5 km winds have
strengthened from 50 to 65 knots in the last 90 minutes. These
conditions favorable for heavy snowfall are expected to shift east
through the early morning hours with the expanding low-level jet,
and heavier snowfall rates expected to impact the DelMarVa within
the next few hours. Maximum snowfall rates of 1 to 1.5 inches per
   hour are expected.

Enjoy folks to the south. Wish was going to get smoked too but looking unlikely. Cloudy and 25 here. Doesn’t look to start for like another hour or so here either. Hoping to get at least 3”
