  • Out of surgery.  Things went well but there will be no snow walks unfortunately.  it is a little more painful than i expected.

Glad it went well! Pain sucks. Keep whatever meds they gave you in your system. It is easier to KEEP pain under control than it is to GET it under control. I hope you can sit next to a window and enjoy the snow.

It appears to me the latest radar returns are showing lots of dry air infiltrating across the state, breaking up what was solid returns. Anyone else seeing this?

I believe what we are seeing is the moisture on the NE side outrun its dynamics. While I’m not confident, as the system moves closer, the better dynamics along with some divergence aloft will create more lift. However some mods tried to show a dry slot over the plateau.

700mb frotogenesis really pronounced on radar, at least I think that's what it is.

Secondly warm front type feature. Just south of that is probably where the mixing starts. Hopefully that boundary stays south of Chattanooga.

Yeah it’s approaching fairly quickly. Huntsville has changed over for the most part I believe. Would be nice if we can hold the line but it appears to be approaching quickly if that’s what it is

Dry slot city for TRI if radar doesn’t pick it up.  Red flag that radar north of 40 doesn’t even remotely match modeling.  Oddly, as much news was made about the foothills,  they might do ok.

I'm in a strange dry slot as well and I'm going to count myself lucky if I get to half what's forecast. Never seen it before with a slider.

The outer Band that developed and moved up through SWVA and SEKY is pulling Moisture into it while the main precip area is consolidating in it leaving a void between them sadly. We just got a little over a quarter of an inch with the front Band while Norton has close to 2 inches from it now. I feared that might happen when that out front area developed earlier but was hoping the solid area would just catch up and fill in.

It's rare to see it snowing in literally every direction from me. It looks like some development down towards Holston may start to fill in my area soon.

Looks like the dry Euro runs are going to verify here. Ironically it got onboard with 4+ inches here at the last minute. I'll be shocked if I get over 2.

The American models, barring a huge surprise, are going to be miserable failures.

Looks to be that way here as well. Just under an inch right now and flake size just struggling. Seems like this storm was probably just further south than the modeling indicated. That, and the dry air around here. Congratulations to the southern valley though! They deserved a good snow!

Same for here.  Maybe 2.5”.  Euro remains King.  Total bust imby.
