I hope my northern friends are feeling better today!

just ignore WBAL who is going 2-4” along the MD/PA line lol

DC TV mets all have max snow DC-north.  WBAL has been consistent with congrats Short Pump lol. It's weird. I think 3-6" for Harford/Cecil could be reasonable.  2-4"?  Gtfo, especially when they have WSWs.

Does anyone have an updated cross section of the "warm nose" graph posted last night?  Curious what the latest is on how far north the sleet is going to go.

This was last night - regret I forgot who posted it.  NAMNest.png

This is fairly similar...

What the 6z here shows even more though is that areas JUST north of the sleet mixing line are absolutely thumping.

Yeah I laughed when it was on the tv. They had 4-7” for you 7-10” DC area

I happened to have WBAL on the other day for the first time in a while and I noticed they were using the Graf model as there futurecast radar.

Tommy Ts favorite. He always uses the graf. He’s also been showing the euro a lot which may be why there are lower amounts along the PA line. From what I’ve heard from Ava, they all have to follow his lead when it comes to maps and forecasts, even if they don’t agree.

What I've occasionally seen from the GRAF on twitter is that it's closer to the consensus!  WBAL seems to want to use a combo of the Ukie and the farther south Euro run from the last 48 hours.

Storm starting to look very juicy on the national radar.  Also, it’s weird being at 19 degrees before a storm!!! Normally it’s 51 and we’re waiting for a miraculous 20 degree drop to occur (which never happens).  Flakes will not be wasted with this one.

just went for a morning run. Here in our neck of the woods, the ground is frozen solid. pretty big deal for before a snowstorm inside the beltway.

Interesting! I know they used to use the RPM a lot years ago but like you said they also show the Euro. I don't watch nearly as much as I used to but I feel like Tom T has definitely gotten more conservative in recent years. He's been at WBAL 35 years which is remarkable and he's a solid met. He never struck me as a my way only guy. By taking that stance he's hurting his own product by not accepting input especially from someone like Ava who's made her own mark a good meteorologist.

When Tony Pann, who is a snow weenie like Justin Berk, is conservative on air, you know it’s Tom’s doing lol

Maryland Mesonet two and four inch soil temps have cooled significantly into the low to mid 30s. Whatever falls will accumulate quick.

Enjoy the snow my Southern friends as I am in New York,,,,,,my son is leaving my house ( NY ) this morning driving to Charlotte N C does anyone have a start time for this down South / does it begin after midnight or earlier ? Will my kid be ok ? Thanks in advance

Earlier. Snow spreads into central virginia area around 7 or 8. My goal would be to get to Charlotte by 9 if I were him.

Assuming he’s coming down 95, after midnight, for the 95 portion in Maryland.

This! Even down in the lowlands of Montclair, it’s in the teens this morning and the ground is frozen solid. Would not be shocked to see the WAA snows get here before midnight. Every flake should stick too!
