Just a small shift South would put us back in that Zone. Still wiggle room. In this case, I'm hoping it doesn't as can do without the heavy Ice and it's effects. Hopefully, the whole area gets more snow with less Icing. Yeah, I am not a fan of heavy icing, any icing. Hoping for a tick or 2 south to keep more of us in all snow. 1

There's a live stream set up about a mile from them I'll be watching.

John1122
Does anyone else notice that Pivotal sometimes doesn't show snow on their maps but when you look at accumulation it's showing that it fell? I had sort of noticed it earlier this year and the Scottie mentioned the NAM showing nice wraparound and I looked at Pivotal and it's not showing any snow falling during any period. (Other sites do show it) However, when you click on 6hr accumulation for instantance, it shows snow has fallen in the areas where it's showing nothing but other sites are showing snow. Rarely post, but just had to pop in to say hi to a fellow(for a short time) clintwoodian. I have an uncle in winchester, and he is going to get hit pretty good with this one. Looks like a mess for us, decent thump of front end snow, and then just a dang mess afterwards. 2

I'm glad to see some more fellow southwest VA guys. Keen Mountain here, originally from Harman/Big Rock. Hoping to score a few inches of snow. I'm afraid it's going to be more of an ice issue. I have my propane heater ready to go in case the power goes out. Hoping we can all escape the worst of the ice!!

Holston_River_Rambler
Looks (not saying it will for sure) to me like the RGEM is about to get a good whooping at the hands of the NAM. System hasn't really started IMBY yet though so we'll see. As of the 6z run RGEM thought we'd all be in the lower 20s to teens and most everyone is at most in the upper 20s. 3km NAM is much more realistic wrt temps. The system itself seems to be a bit north of what the RGEM predicted as well. 3km NAM does still try to show that pocket if ZR in Anderson and Campbell counties though. I don't really like freezing rain all that much, so I guess I can't complain too much. It kind of hurt to type the above, the RGEM's my best little friend. matt9697
Had some sleet and freezing rain at the outset but seems like it is just rain now. At least we are banking more precip for the watertable which was pretty dried out last Summer/Fall. Having been through some rough ice storms, while I feel for Kentucky and Missouri, dont mind at all passing on this one!
bearman
It will be interesting to see if the cold air in the valley will remain stubborn and remain in the valley. Will it be deep enough for snow or sleet or will it just be rain. I have seen on rare occasions on the western side of the valley remain snow and sleet for an extended time through the event. Don't think it will this time but hope springs eternal.

Jed33
It looks like a heavier band just pushed over Morristown. I don’t know though. I’ll see if I can get a report soon.
