was 61 at 1:40 today.

About 51 when I was out there with 40 mph gusts. Felt a lot colder than the actual temp. We had a weird isolated shower hours after the main line and we were well on our way to warmth but that set midday heating way back locally.

Yeah, we had that same secondary downpour around noon. Wasn’t expecting that one at all, after the main line went through around 7 AM.

Looks like another missed opportunity. We haven't reached warning level criteria since Jan. 2022. Has to be the record. El Ninos suck, La Ninas suck, neutrals suck. The only thing we succeed at is flooding

Really had high hopes for this one too. Stinks.

I’ll have some unpleasant commentary when we get socked into a wet and cool pattern this spring while folks east hit 80.

Who’s ready for fishing season? I guess any time is the time to fish but man am I looking forward to wetting the line with the crickets singing at 8 pm. Hoping to do some smallmouth fishing this spring below the gorge and catch some channel cat in the lake. I’ve mostly been a fly fisherman for years but bought a new baitcaster last summer and trying to get used to it.

I bought a couple blanks and had a guy in PA build them out for me.  I found this guy several years ago who does really good work reasonably.

8 foot Kabuto 3W

8.5 McFarland 5/6

I've not tried the Butterstick, but I'm sure it's got that classic glass feel.  I have a couple Echo glass rods that I like a lot.

It’ll probably be the last Redington rod I buy. I love it and don’t want to be disappointed with their products going forward anymore than I already have. Since they were bought out, quality has plummeted and they no longer have the amazing warranty of years past.

What’d you go with? I got a butter stick as a gift about 2 years ago and it’s by far my favorite rod.

I did not know they had been bought out.  I have a Reddington carbon 9 5/6 a guide buddy got me on a pro deal several years ago (15?)  Fine rod, but I'm not using it much these days.

I mostly do glass anymore these last 10 years. It's where I started. Glad to see a renaissance there.  I really, really like Japanese glass.

It took me a bit to get used to the sensitivity of the glass rod, but man, when you do, it’s incredible. It makes a 6” brookie feel like a smallmouth.

That's a nice benefit of glass, for sure. What I really like is the casting feel. It's notably slower and you can really feel the rod load on the backcast.  Better roll casting, which comes in handy on blue lines. Better short distance casting overall because glass loads more fully.

I’ll say this. Someone correct me if I’m wrong and granted it was a miller b, but I vividly remember in 2022, that storm had paltry QPf 48 hrs before the storm only to see the 3k and HRRR come into range and slowly tick up. Eventually it got all the way to .7 imby.

Yup, up here in Saluda we only were forecast 1-3" , and ended up with 10"
