The convection blow up in the gulf is all I needed to see tonight. I said yesterday this was going to be a painful event as far east as the triad and I think it could now be even further east than that. Depending on a dying batch of precip to survive downsloping in hopes a 1010+ mb low pressure 200 miles off shore will throw back moisture is a recipe for disappointment.

Hampton Roads is the only place that will reach warning criteria. Maybe northern outer banks too

Last 3 Rap models are increasing moisture and totals slowly back here in the west. It's not much but when you are at rock bottom already anything positive gives us hope. Also has about 4 hrs of snow on Thursday morning that is dropping another 1/2" or more.

The 6z HRRR has getting our best chance at any accumulations tomorrow morning out of the upper level energy. Maybe that's the best we can hope for at this point.

Unfortunately, McDowell county gets blanked today and tomorrow in that scenario lol. Of course

That will downslope the hell out of McDowell, Rutherford, and parts of Burke, Caldwell. Now you might get a dusting or 1/2

The wind is strangely picking up out of the east and I have a decent snow shower going on. Too bad it's above freezing or it might be accumulating

Got an ese wind here also. Hoping that helps at least to see some flakes today.
