Not our storm. At least we get to see snow falling. Maybe fab Feb or a March miracle can salvage a decent season.

If someone told me January would be this below normal, I would have surely thought we got at least 4 or 5 inches of snow. Not so.

Make negative tilt phased lows great again!

Looks like no torch is in sight but no crazy cold either. We’re about to enter a Pacific pattern like we’re used to. There’s a lot of cold that should stay on this side of the globe so maybe we can make something work. It’d be nice to get a HP parked where it’s supposed to be and time up a storm.

Got 5ish weeks +\- to work with.

It will be 60 degrees next week around Lake Norman.

May get one more chance mid-late February.

I am ready for 80 degrees and pool weather.

I’m kinda at that point too! Especially after getting our hand burnt two weeks ago.

Burnt out with the dry cold, lack of sunlight and sickness in my house.

Ready to put the pontoon on the water and embrace the gold bond time of year.

I just want one more slightly perfect setup we can work with. Seeing these pics from the coast makes me sick.

The odds are against us.  It hasn't snowed more than a couple inches in February or March since 2014. Plus you add in the fact that February is notoriously warm in La Ninas and the fact that we are going to see the PNA drop and it will be threading the needle like always.

Storms like these remind me of how annoyed I get when people say we’re in a climatologically favored region. We’re absolutely not. We have to have a gulf low in perfect position with CAD to get snow here. Anyone from the piedmont - east can get just about any shitty setup to work out for them and I don’t mean that as a knock but it’s reality.

It truly comes down to a miller A or sometimes a miller b depending on thermals for us. Thats it. No clippers, no flow, rarely do ULLs work here, southern sliders…eh. Most of the time no.

It was kind of painful, I have to admit.

I feel like we're the only folks in the southeast with a legit reason to complain this winter. Foothills of WNC and Upstate of SC. It sucks. The mountain group gets pounded every week and can't relate to us even though we are 30 mins apart from a distance perspective. It's becoming painful to even come on here, tbh.

Literal worst case scenario is coming true for us (and it's the one I posted about several times). Mountains get pounded by NWFS multiple times and then a big coastal event hits leaving a large gap from Asheville to Hickory....

What's funny to me is people saying they want a warm up so badly when we have barely has any winter weather in the foothills. It hasn't even dropped in the single digits for me yet people act like its the arctic tundra. Winter has really beaten us down!

I just want every seasonal cold virus out of my house lol. If it takes 90° to make it happen then let er rip!

No doubt. IMBY I live in a 180+ degree bowl with mountains to my N  back around to my SSW. The flow has to be prefect out of the EEN - NE to get a good fetch for all snow in any system. to much N or NW winds means it has to combat coming down (and I get sloped).

I know it can happen again.

But Luckily when I lived in Boone for 3 years we had some great NWSF events.

I feel this as an Asheville resident. Pretty sure Wilmington has more total snow than us so far this year. People think it snows here a lot (because mountains), but they don’t know about the Asheville Snow Hole.
