stormy
Many variables exist for the Friday/Sunday threat. Scrutiny at this point is an exercise in futility. Come back 48 hrs. from now......................

psuhoffman
The ICON was closer to a bigger event...but the issue is if the STJ wave starts to amplify more and gets closer...but doesn't actually hit we could end up with nothing because as the coastal starts to get going it will cut off the precip streaming north along the inverted trough with the northern stream low to the north. So it becomes an all or nothing situation. A weaker STJ wave opens the door to some kind of in between event with moisture training along the trough.

paulythegun
the way this is trending (looking at the last 8 GFS runs), by game time we'll have a Great Lakes Bomb Cyclone

jgentworth
untrained eye, comparing to 12z, it looks like 18z heights out front are slightly steeper and the trough is slightly more neutral allowing the surface to be slightly (just a tick NW). 18z Precip shield seems a bit broader
