Does the potential evolution of this threat bear any resemblance to the long duration storm of January 9-10, 2011? MBY (Athens, GA) got 8.8" of snow in that one.

CLT is very similar to ATL.

Yup. And reports for that storm quote tens of thousands in metro Atlanta impacted. Imagining the millions in the area now and it would be devastating. Same for Charlotte and other major SE cities that 20-30+ years ago were fractions of what they are today.

Nah, it'll come back. Seen this back and forth before. The signal is too strong on all the models for it not to happen.

GEFS has a good signal for accumulating snow in Southern VA and Eastern VA and Eastern NC for Sunday Night. Nothing major but it has increased since 12z.

 3 of the 50 EPS members show the heaviest snowfall in my area in ~185 years after I decreased two of them from the 10:1 calculation, which would be too high in those two cases.
