tarheelwx
Some decently cold air stays on this side of the pole for the foreseeable future. The Euro shows some zr in cad areas later on. My thoughts are that those of us in central NC will find a way to nickel and dime our way to normal snowfall by the end of March. Having said that, it’s disappointing to still be just under 3” with nothing decent on the horizon. TW

Is it the gut-wrenching feeling of loss, the overwhelming sense of hopelessness, or perhaps the crushing weight of despair as the hope of snowfall disappears before our very eyes? Whatever image it conjures, one thing is certain: misery is a force to be reckoned with in the realm of human emotions. HKY_WX
The euro/gfs both are showing some signals of a large split flow stj low 10 days from now. This is a big dog ice/snow look . First one I've seen in the extended that gets me interested (1st real big dog look this year). Worth mentioning since both the gfs and ec show it. 5

The old split flow meme. Some goes north. Some goes south. Leaving us right in the split. Not gonna fool me again.

BooneWX
The reality is that later this month should give us a slightly relaxed pattern, that’s our opportunity imo. We had too much of a good thing with this current setup. I myself, will be rooting for an absolute bowling ball with negative tilt. Enough with this northern stream strung out mess. 3

EarlGrey
1 good storm down. What’s next? I see a warm up towards the end of the month and then we start getting into Feb. where we know time is limited.
tarheelwx
I believe both the Euro and the GFS were showing some ice/snow possibilities out in the 240-300 range. At least we’re not devoid of anything at all. TW

Upstate Tiger
Good news for winter weather lovers is that arctic air remains in Canada and even rebuilds and expands in February. Won't take much to buckle the jet and get a CAD event. On the other hand, the NAO is headed into positive territory and the PNA is moving down toward neautral. At some point, one would guess Nina climatology would exert it's influence.

Now that everyone else has had their fill, I’m politely requesting a 1040 hp just east of Toronto, with a phased low reaching negative tilt in Alabama before tracking through southern Georgia - to Charleston and Virginia Beach. 2 1
BornAgain13
GFS shows an ICE Storm 2 runs in a row now around day 10/11. Just something to watch. 1
tarheelwx
GFS triples down on the 12Z. Huge ice storm for cad region as strong high pressure wedges in as precip arrives. TW

wncsnow
With all the cold in Canada it will only take a well positioned high for CAD areas.
eyewall
Yeah we have to be realistic and say that this most recent event is likely the last for the year in terms of snow. I expect an early spring in February.

It looked like a concentrated Zr attack in the long range. Don't like that look, so I'll just wish it to be sleet, lol. Plenty of time to get that low further down.
