Looks like it might not want to merge that Great Lakes Low like the GFS if it continued past 144hrs, too. HP in Mid Atlantic is a few ticks higher as well. That's a good look. Best case scenario would be overrunning much like tommorow's system, just much further south

Consistent with the further south operational Euro, the 18Z Euro ensemble mean’s axis of heaviest snow to the west at 144 came in ~50 miles south of the 12Z’s 150: It’s going to be tough to get the mean low track back southeast enough for a place like Atlanta to get at least several inches of snow but we’re still just far enough out that it’s still very doable even if not likely. StantonParkHoya
This is going to be a good test of the Dallas-Rule. Rare they get 5 inches and RDU gets nada. 3

kvegas-wx
I think the hope we have, if any, is that we are still far from model consensus. But it sure does feel like the odds are not in favor of the phase we need to see. Near miss again.

It really depends on the setup, if its a huge closed low south of Dallas there is a decent chance something like that is going to cut up into the OH Valley. It needs to be more of an overrunning type event for that rule to work. Most Atlanta snow storms either are a weak Gulf low which maybe starts near Houston or developing Miller As that form further east and weaker than normal like 1/87 or 12/2010 1
