Thermometers in general are pretty darn accurate to at least the nearest 1°F, even the worst ones are good to 1°C. If someone tells me, "well it was xx° at my house!" I generally believe them. The only ones I don't often trust is The bi-metallic strip coil thermometers you find on big round porch thermometers.

Thermometers are really accurate, but the housing/siting is where things go awry.
