...POTENTIAL WINTER COMMUTING HAZARD FOR THE BALTIMORE AND
WASHINGTON METRO AREAS THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING...

There is a potential for hazardous commuting conditions for this
afternoon and evening commute. A period of snow is POSSIBLE (a 30
to 50 percent chance) this afternoon and evening across the
Baltimore and Washington metro areas with up to a half inch of
accumulation on area roads.

If this threat does materialize this afternoon and evening rush-
hour, many roads could quickly turn snow covered. This could lead
to dangerous traveling conditions on untreated surfaces.

If commuting this afternoon and evening, be aware of the
POSSIBILITY of travel disruptions. Plan ahead by allowing for
extra travel time.

Stay tuned for updates on this potential winter weather episode.

I wonder when Baltimore County School are going to announce they are closing early.  <_<

11.7 and still falling when I left home. Might make 11f for the low.

Drove across the wide South River on Riva Rd  bridge and it was frozen bank-to-bank. Looked like fairly thin ice, but seemed to go to the Route 2 bridge at least.

ETA: Tidal ice must be thicker than I thought, according to CG and DNR:

Dropped to 11 here in the South River watershed forest. All of the tributaries and associated wetlands are frozen solid up here in the watershed along 450. It will soften up tomorrow and Saturday before the big ice forms next week. It's been an epic winter so far here in the lowlands. I'm about 5" from reaching climo with plenty of opportunities to exceed it coming up.
