And 16th straight day of snow cover. Pleased with this January when expectations for this winter was super low.

Same. It was actually really nice temp wish. A lot of days reminded me of beautiful days in Lake Placid. When it's sunny, calm, and 30 degrees people are sitting outside at restaurants lol

Its 13 degrees. That 15 degrees higher than models had 7 days ago. When we see those ridiculous low temps in long range we'll know to ignore it. I feel like the cold shot went more south and moderated as it came east. It's a shame non record cold suppressed a storm to Florida lol

I think widespread subzero was always going to fail, but if our Sunday storm hadn’t choked so badly, it certainly would have gotten colder. Also had a bit more cloud cover than expected I think.

LOL, I can relate. Son lived in Breckenridge for a number of years. 30 was WARM. People would be outside eating like nothing was wrong. I visited in June one year, it was decent, upper 30's. There was a pickup football game going on in the field beside his apartment, teams were shirts vs shirtless lol. People get used to what they live in/with over time.

Maybe it’s a mental thing or the air is thinner up there, but 20-30 doesn’t feel that cold in the rockies or sierras. But here, its freezing. One time in steamboat springs, we were swimming in the hot springs when it was 17 degrees out.

There's certainly something to both of these issues. Lack of fresh deeper snowcover hurts a ton and we kept getting at least some cloudcover in the early morning hours IMBY.

-23 at Canaan NWR. A lot of negative teens in WV, WMD, and WPA. 10 imby.

Looks like it bottomed out at -27 degrees this morning.  Within 10 degrees of the state record and we didn't have perfect radiational cooling conditions the whole night as we got about an inch of snow.  That place will break the record sometime soon.

Just makes you wonder HOW cold it was in that location when the record was set. -27 there this morning. Elkins was -15, Lewisburg -2 and WSS -4. I know you can't correlate exactly, but if all those stations were -28 to -37 on that morning makes you think Canaan would/could have been in -40 to -45 range easy.
