I've started to mellow a little bit in the last year or so, but I'm still willing to make it know that I'm pissed off if Fairfax County makes a lame decision. We're two hours late today, but I've been told that they'll do that for cold mostly because the buses often take a lot longer to get going in colder conditions.

We only got to 12, but I think that's because of the clouds that MN Transplant mentioned. Understandable call by the county to delay even if it didn't get as cold as expected.

Might have a hard time getting the busses started and the building heated. This happened a few times when I was a kid where, even with heater coils in the fuel, the busses just wouldn't turn over.

I never though of an Airbnb to snow chase. I will keep that tin mind. I always looked for hotels because they have gyms, pools, and hot food if and when you get snowed in.

5.3 this morning.   The cloud cover put a blanket over radiational cooling.

Clear skies and calm winds would have bottomed out at zero to  -3.0

7.2 at 8:30.

Snow on the beach is cool. My son and I snowchased the foot of snow Ocean City got a few years back. Funnest trip ever. WE picked a hotel with an enclosed pool resort.

I think you should. Get the grill going, put on some yacht rock, slap on the copper tone and float on an iceberg raft

And I’m gonna be the non mellow mattie g today. To me FCPS had plenty of time to prep for the cold. Buses today can’t be worse for starting in the cold than years ago when we went in temps colder than this. 2 hr delay is just dumb

6z euro gets some snow showers this evening to the eastern part of our sub forum.  With this cold even like 0.02 qpf can whiten things up.

Made it to 3F around 1030 last night before the clouds started increasing and temps rose.  Could've been a sub-zero night.  10F currently.

A two hour delay to get things rolling at ~730am vs 530am is super dumb when in winter the low temp often occurs around 7am.

Lowest DP was 2, so didn't feel it was likely to get below 0 even if cloud conditions improved.

100% agree.  Today's delay is ridiculous.  Even more ridiculous is knowing that we will have the same delay tomorrow.

I did not mind the delay up here. It’s cold. Had the car at the end of the driveway for bus pickup. Was 5° when we were out there.
