CAPE
18 this morning and the wind chill is going to be a little nastier today. Been a long time since there has been a solid snowpack with persistent cold and wind in the days that follow. Have not seen the magnitude of blowing and drifting of snow across the roads like this since probably 2014.

If i get another 2" this weekend I'll only be 4" from climo. The long range continues the arctic hammer. We'll be walking on the bay in a few weeks. 4

We do have snow blowing across corn fields

More than half the road I traveled to work this morning had packed snow with ice underneath, and in some cases drifts blocking one lane. Persistent wind/continued cold and the powdery nature of the snow make this an ongoing problem.

Wind chills this morning are rather nasty. A true deep winter morning. Temp here curretnly at 20 F.

Exact wrong thing to do. The asshole tailgaters still doing their thing too. 2 1

katabatic
4.6" of fluff overnight and this morning (continues to snow now), temp remained relatively steady with a low of 12.2. Makes the 4 day total 22.6" so far.
wxdude64
Warmer at this same time this morning (16.5) than yesterday (13.4). I thought we would be colder, but whatever, still chilly. 4.5 inches still on the ground of hard concrete. Yesterday's high was 25.6, flurries on and off basically all day and night, but never accumulated.

This morning the flowing side of the swamp (downstream of the dam) was iced over. This is a new level of winter for us. (Swamp plus tidal South River have been well frozen for some time now.) My low was 18f overnight then warmed a bit by dawn.

There is definitely a penetration factor in 25mph wind chill of minus 5 versus still air cold of -5
wxdude64
Hey! I made it back over 20! Currently 20.2/7.9 at 11 am with a NW wind 9 gusting to 15, making WC 9 to 6 degrees. Skies have cleared to partly cloudy, and flurries have stopped for last hour or so.

Took the pup out this morning and it was pretty damn chilly. At one point, he squatted and took a dump and, in my rush to close the poop bag, I dropped it and I got a small smear on my coat. That shit froze up pretty quickly.

The wind will keep the temp dropping so it's somewhat comparable to other areas. Calm winds mean the temp stops dropping only a little bit after sunset.
