Hearing the sirens of everything in the area presumably heading that way… hearing it’s a 60-80 person regional jet. Could be bad, unfortunately. Too many things in the air around here.

The video circulating online looks like both immediately crashed to the ground.

OMG, just seeing the news about the plane crash.  It was a regional jet coming from Wichita, KS.  Saying prayers for the passengers.

Listening to the scanner. Just awful. 60 passengers + 4 crew members on the plane. Unknown how many on the helicopter.

Four people were just rescued as of 10:30 PM. They seem to be alive. Thank God.

It’s not confirmed that the 4 people pulled out are alive. It’s just rumors now.

It’s up to 12 people pulled out of the water. None are confirmed alive yet.

After listening to everything on the radio, I would be highly surprised there were any victims brought out alive.

Can’t stop thinking of the passengers looking out at the monuments as they’re about to land as I have done each time I take off / land at Reagan, and they had no idea what was about to happen. Just awful.

Well I got my wish, misty cloudy nice southerly winds and it is 69 degrees ----- along with a 69 degree dewpoint. Its gonna hit the mid 80s in a few days!

I am absolutely shattered beyond description by the horrific enormity of the Washington Crash. It appears to be a most unfortunate accident. I am agonized by the thought of their loved ones trying to make sense of this. May God grant strength and comfort to all.

Looks like the Blizzard of 2016 really shows your idea well. We got 8-12 inches in NCC. We got screwed relative to areas near us. This has been the case ever since.

 

I think the MA area is a screw zone in general. As this year has shown, its pretty easy for Charleston SC to score, just get a REALLY cold airmass. Its really easy for Upstate NY/Vermont to score, just get a marginal airmass.

But here? What do we need? Who knows!

Yes. It was found upside down and submerged with no survivors.

My husband and I are flying out of DCA Sunday morning on AA. We very rarely fly out of there. My daughter who lives in DC warned me about trending information. All the family members of those lost will remain in my thoughts.

If you are where I think you are...your elevation is about 25-50 feet.  This is actually lower than much of the Delmarva south of you.  There is a really awful zone in northern DE south of the fall line to the canal linking the two bays.  I've observed this area... warmth seems to come up the Chesapeake Bay and continue NE and links to the same effect coming up the DE bay that used to affect me when I lived in NJ.  You live in a regional snowfall minimum.  What's worse is those places well south of you on the DELMARVA probably don't get more snow than you...but they don't get less and they live geographically far from the areas that get a lot more...to their west a huge body of water divides them and they have to go far north.  You are really close, only about 15-20 miles from places that get almost double your snowfall which makes it hurt even more.  Trust me I've lived places like that and I know the pain...but it's not going to change, its due to geographic factors that will cause you to get less snow in most storms than places around you.
