@WEATHER53

Wanted to answer your question. We sold our Rockville house in early September. All pre-planned over the last 4 years or so. We've wanted out of HCOL MoCo and unfriendly crowds for a decade but kids, schools, and all that jazz doesn't allow life to be simple lol.

We chose the general Smith Mtn lake area because it's a recreational paradise with minimal cost of living unless you want a lake front McMansion. Everything is a fraction of the cost and we downsized so financial stress is gone. Which is massively important because that stress was stealing years from me in MD.

We have a 25 acre tract of land in a remote section of Pittsylvania County with Leesville lake access. We also have a simple little place in Penhook with Smith Mtn lake access that serves as home base for now until we build our home on the land. The 2 properties are only 3 miles apart with a helicopter but a 20 minute drive due to topography and minimal roads lol.

Snow climo here is basically Roanoke so a downgrade there. I've stopped caring about that. Too many factors offset it and I've spent enough time chasing ghosts hahaha

I think we might have to be ok with another 3-4.9” storm

sigh. It is really pretty funny how we can't break that cap and have not for years and years now.

Side note, when tracker (bless his heart) always types about how things always adjust north at the last minute...well...no? Has not been the case for awhile now - at least with respect to our area. Maybe this time, but, the pacman wall has done dirty work on us for a long time now. Jan. 2022 was beyond infuriating.

Excited to be drawing a snow map again (tomorrow)... almost a year to the day since my last one. Hoping the 4-8" band verifies IMBY.

No offense but I love/hate your maps.  You always shade MBY the same color as my hair now.  But hopefully this time it will be different.

At least tomorrow night looks interesting up your way. You and @mappy might get 1-2”.

@bncho friendly nudge again. Absorb info - no shame in that! We've all been enthusiastic weather folks. Your post per day average is SKYROCKETING. It's not a race to see who can post the most frequently. Every time I see you post your post count has jumped a ton.

Meteorology is such a nuanced science - learned long ago that maps don't tell the full story. Arguing back and forth with long term forum members and/or mets isn't going to gain you much camaraderie on here.

We are all excited about the possibility of a snowstorm - posting more times won't "lock it in" or anything. As much as we joke about jinxing things and juju - our weather forum has no impact on real world weather.

You know me....always trying to be that "friendly" nudge to the influx of posters each year. I can't help it

Good thing you guys never made me a mod or I'd probably go scorched Earth at times, though ;)

I mean it's fun to track but really it isn't

Guidance being so good at identifying storm windows like 15+ days out is a serious blessing and a curse.

Just came out of a meeting and...I approve of what just ran from the ICON/GFS/GEM - well done all.

You all get gold stars for the day.

Just wait for the King to come in and drive this bastard to Buffalo.
