toolsheds
Been wanting to ask this question about the new Euro AI model. Isn't it just the Euro "Next Gen" version? Aren't all of the models calculates using AI? Not trying to Nitpick, but I feel that that term is really overused and don't see the difference with a computer model other than some of the inputs and updated calculations. There are significant differences. At a very high level, AI models are trained on reanalysis data. It is analog/pattern recognition on steroids. I think there are some traditional modeling-like guard rails involved, but others that have more knowledge should chime in. Traditional models are physics-based, solving numerical fluid dynamics equations and then adding in parameterizations for things that can't be realistically calculated (and some tuning for good measure).

How come Randy allows that but not the Greenland Block comment The fact that a Greenland Block is now a tempting off-topic punchline is hilarious though--there of all places, lol

snowfan
Lunch hour headline on wbal…..frigid temps expected for ravens game. when did we become so soft? It’s an outdoor game in January. This has been happening since the dawn of professional football. I’m pretty sure folks in attendance will survive. End rant.
