I’m gonna keep an eye on it but with what @wxmeddlersaid about age and hydrometer, my VP2 just could be at end of life. It’s old. Like 15 at least. Might need a replacement.

temp down to 32.5/15 but if DP is really single digits my temp will fall nicely

If everything else is working, you can just upgrade the temperature/humidity sensor.

Sleds and shovels have been moved out of storage and into the garage. Do I make my kids shovel before we go sledding in the morning or just get on the hills immediately?

We are staged here as well. Send the younguns out with shovels and tell them you are not ready but if they shovel a walk etc you will take them sledding right away. At least that's my plan.

This is that part of the hunt where you don't even know what to do with yourself... lol... sometimes it all just comes together nicely. We have a fantastic SNF game coming up, all schools have already closed tomorrow... kids are excited... AND, maybe something already on the horizon for next weekend.

Personally I also have the added excitement that I'm taking the fam up to Wisp on Thurs for some tubing fun... if next weekend comes to fruition and we get to come home to a blizzard... sheesh, what a week.

I was just about to post a drink ob…

Started with a Bowman's Single Barrel, then just finished a Vienna Lager. About to pour a vodka and seltzer (Wegman’s Cherry/Pomegranate) and see where that takes me.

Rum and coke is my pre dinner beverage.  Now that its radar watching time I want to sip on something nice.  Cheers!

I am returning on the 14th. I have a dreaded feeling my heart will be broken.

I have a commitment I absolutely cannot miss, otherwise I’d do what North Arlington is doing.

I feel ya hardcore and I know you’ve had equally terrible luck with your vacation timing over the years.

I think this year has firmly instilled the lesson in me… no vacations between Dec. 5 and March. 25. It causes headaches for me, my travel partners… basically anyone I can complain to.

missing tomorrow is gonna suck, but there is a little solace in knowing that it’s (largely) gonna be over by 2pm? Ignoring the backend fluff? The second the snow is over I’m gonna want to be at the beach. Even if I leave for Saturday’s hypothetical “storm” I’ll prob have a bit of a regretful hangover when that subsides

the life of a snow weenie is hard and misunderstood by most. Not sure anyone who isn’t us can fully get it

I also prefer not to have vacations in the winter planned way in advance, but sometimes there are other people in our lives who do want them. And saying no to everything based on a 1% chance of missing something extraordinary makes no sense.

And yet, here we are, now faced with the choice of missing a legendary HECS, or upsetting our closest loved ones for the sake of some obscure hobby that 99% of people couldn’t care less about.

I did enjoy those runs for this storm that fringed northern MD (tho that is no guarantee), and I take some solace in the fact that the chance of the latest GFS coming true is extremely low, based on any rational analysis.

But the weather isn’t always rational, and when the atmosphere is going full 2009-10, then there’s very little to stop it.

Maybe my family - or other close contacts - are a little more sympathetic than yours. I do think after the hullabaloo with these two storms a dead of winter vacation is unlikely again. A wedding? A funeral? That stuff I can’t control. But a hypothetical family Disney trip can happen in November instead

In my case it’s a family wedding. That is way too important to miss, especially if I already committed.

If this was Disney then I’d cut and run.

The last time I did a trip similar to this was December 2009.

The big one happened just 1 day before I departed, so I didn’t miss that.

But then there was another HECS scare that came up for the New Year period when I would’ve still been gone, before that was reduced to a 2-5” event.

Yeah, wedding is tough nuts. Especially family. I’m a loon but I couldn’t run out on my sibling’s weddings or anything. A cousin? Probably

I am heartened that our smartest folks seem to think we continue on this possible heater. Jan 14 is early in the winter and we often have zero snow by that date. Odds are still probably we’re both missing the season’s best stork tomorrow if you look at a typical year but maybe this ain’t a typical year

Love our mini pity thread going on in banter while everyone else parties lol. We’re fun guys.

I’d wag the HECS threat next weekend is a 2-4” event that favors the south more than us, just to put us both at ease lol.

it's 100% your choice to make yourself miserable and to make everyone around you miserable with your complaining. you're incredibly privileged to be able to take this fantastic vacation with your family. why decide you won't go away for a warm vacation in the winter over something as meaningless as snow?

I've missed big storms and thundersnow to be enjoying a nice vacation with people I love and have never regretted it. it's just snow and you can always travel to see snow. time spent with people is a zillion times more precious.

You aren’t wrong! But many of us on here same feel the same way… just venting. It’s a largely incurable disease, I think. But appreciate being chided for it - probably deserve it ;)
