I’m beginning to wonder where this 2-3” of snow forecasted today is. Mood flakes so far this morning working not far from KDTX radar

Nws banking on the bands making it all the way over here is surprising. Usually wwa for lake effect is a waste but I get them wanting to cover their asses.

It is understandable. Just got a little more than a dusting. Co worker in NW Monroe county sent me a pic and he got hammered. Glad we are still getting a snowpack slowly built up tho.

Picked up 0.6" here today. Now at 5.9" in Jan and 11.4" season. DTW got 0.8" with 11.1" on the season.

Today's snow widely varied from a light dusting to 2" in SE MI. Keeping the snowcover fresh. I won't complain one bit as it looks like winter, feels like winter, and we won't be getting any big storms til this pattern changes so im enjoying the nickels.

If that PV split goes down we could be nickel and diming well into February. Not a total loss as you said.

I actually quite enjoy these periods. I will take a half inch of snow every other day and frigid cold to keep things white and fresh. This is what deep winter feels like

Like I always say, “warm” weather around here in winter isn’t warm so it might as well just feel and look like winter.

Exactly. We actually can easily get better snowstorms when it's a "warm" winter pattern. But doesn't have that deep winter feel.

After last year's mild winter, I have been enjoying the cold.  There has been several days with snowflakes falling, snow on the ground, frozen lakes and plenty of winter activities.  I have done relatively well with snow only being a bit below average but the LES keeps falling.  I know many here are bone dry and I feel lucky with what I have received.  Looking forward to whatever comes next!!

Kick in the shorts come Sun n Mon. Highs in the -10's with -20 to -30 lows. Might even get a little colder at sunrise if winds are dead calm. Shoreline will be -sd's for highs with -10's in the am. Just for perspective, record lows are in the -40's, and low max in the mid/upper -10's for interior NE MN this time of year. Although I-Falls does have a -28 high on the 19th (this Sun), second only to -29 earlier in the month. Sure we won't get that bad.

15-vehicle pileup on the US 20 bypass just west of South Bend. Lake effect overperforming early. Temps in the teens and bursts of heavy snow are taking a serious toll on the roads.

Listening to community reaction and the fact there were 33 crashes in South Bend/St. Joseph County as that weenie band went through... seems like this would have been a proper time for a Snow Squall Warning.

Completely agree with your sentiment in spirit, but unfortunately here in barren Lake County IL there's only a dusting of snow cover in the shaded areas of neighborhoods, and essentially bare ground in all exposed areas.  At least MBY (literally) has a thin cover. The southern 3/4 of WI is bare ground - just hard to comprehend.  We should not be normalizing this.

All of the nickels have been hitting the city and south.  Up here, it has only been the occasional penny.

My standards aren't as high as many think.  Just 2" of snow cover would be nice, with cold temps - nothing more needed.

Its unfortunate for your area snowcover wise. Youd be satisfied in MI. Im actually thinking DTW may get a top 20 coldest Jan.

I reported to IWX the conditions as it rolled through here, thinking that they would issue a Snow Squall Warning, but only got a response of, "Thanks. That arctic front means business." Then they continued to issue SPS's downstream.

I could think of a few advantages if this happens to be the new normal. You get the scenery, but you can get rid of the snowblower. That would do wonders in terms of freeing up space in my two car garage.

It's not a new normal. Its a weather pattern. A snowblower is a worthwhile investment if you have a big driveway.
