I do remember that lightning; I was standing in the garage at my parents home when it happened. I was 19. It was the last year I had a full head of hair. And in all this time, there is still no treatment that can restore one's hair, no matter what anyone tells you. That's a PSA for any of you who might get sucked in by plugs, rugs, or drugs....

It was on an April Tuesday during school break.  I took a date to the circus at MSG in the blizzard and heard thunder out on 7th Ave.  It was an omen; we got married a few years later and still are.

Don’t worry. The snow measuring team from Central Park has been deployed down south to accurately measure the snow for New Orleans and the Florida panhandle. Expect the all time records to be reinstated this time tomorrow. No records have been broken.

Apparently, the all time Florida snowfall record is broken.
5" in Pensacola.  Not done let.  Forecast low is 16.  Now that's impressive.

Would be a shame if New Orleans doesn't actually break their 8.2" record from 1895, as I'm seeing "only" 8.0" being reported by TWC - could be the official NOLA site didn't get the heaviest bands that others in the city, who got ~12" or more got. Or maybe the Central Park zookeeper was relocated to NOLA.

With a very strong part of the jet stream overhead, known as a jet streak, our weather balloon this evening measured 203 knots (234 mph) at 250 mb (around 33,000 ft)! A 200+ knot wind has only been measured during 10 other launches from our site, dating back to 1952.

I know someone in the Panhandle. They had 5 inches and counting. Might hit 5 and 1/2 or 6, ending soon. All streets closed, no plows.

Interesting...and another post by the NWS-NOLA in that thread, below, explains the measuring location issue about the old record of 8.2" in 1895 being at a discontinued site and that they're evaluating potential records.  Clearly, many reports >9" in the city and probably way better pic/video proof of them now than in 1895.

Not that it matters because we all know it's cold but it's interesting everywhere west of us has a cold weather advisory including all of Mt Holly's counties but upton didn't issue one for any part of their area

I can't imagine the criteria for Sussex/Warren/Morris being higher than for NYC metro.

Temp has been stuck at 19 since this afternoon. High of 23, low of 10, make it end. Thankfully the air is dead calm so it doesn’t feel as cold as it otherwise would.

That's funny because almost 30 years later for the January 2011 blizzard was the last time I had a full head of hair at the same age

Edit: I guess the better comparison for your area would be Boxing Day
