The Delaware River is largely covered in ice from just south of Trenton north on Route 29, ice jams might form in areas. Awesome to see.

Makes me wonder what it must have been like when Washington crossed.

First time in years the hackenack river by me is icing over from oradell dam southward.

The thing is, our little community is the vast minority of society in loving not only snow but also cold. My girlfriend is the same way, can't stand the cold while I'm walking around like it's no big deal and I had to explain what a "snow weenie" is to her which, understandably, she was perplexed by haha. 

Long story short, we're a bunch of weirdos here at americanwx but at least we have each other in this little community because nobody else understands this obsession of ours.

Was out in Trenton today where ice has clogged the city water works new 9 million dollar Delaware River intake system. Someone's got some splainin' to do.

The snow cover is helping plus the airmass isn’t crossing the warmer Lakes and the delayed freeze-up on Hudson Bay which is keeping the Northeast warmer.

No thread from me on 1/19-22 events...  not tonight.  Will rereview tomorrow...would like to see more consistent 1"+ snow depth change on LI.  I dont want to be threading LI with a bit of snow-sleet-mostly rain.  Interior I think is good for periods of snow ice with maybe a touch of rain.   No BIG qpf output this 1/19-22 period, so far.

January 2022 was pretty impressive on the back bays but nothing like February 2015 on our local waterways.

It's interesting to me to compare the Euro/EPS for the last two long range runs.  At 0Z, the Euro Op showed significantly more total snowfall at the end of its run than the EPS mean did, while at 12Z the Euro Ops showed significantly less total snowfall at the end of its run than the EPS mean did. This implies that the Euro Op was likely a bit of an outlier in both cases, but this far out I'd rather have the EPS mean showing more snow than the Euro Op vs. vice-versa.

Lots of ice in that section of the river when I drove past before. In other areas it looks like a slushy machine.

That's not what I saw on the 9th weeklies. Feb 3 onward normal or above temps.  Not sure what you used. Maybe I'm using the wrong weeklies.

2014-15 was my favorite winter.... do you know what the coldest SST were? I remember reading eastern LI was getting freezing drizzle on an onshore wind!
