It's not that they do not see what is going on it is more a discussion as to whether or not it will continue or abate.

Hopefully, we can reshuffle the Pacific deck of cards we have been playing enough in coming years for more STJ interactions. But it’s uncertain if that will be the case. Since in this new age of competing marine heatwaves the faster Northern Stream seems to be the default.

Jan 4 2018 noreaster (Blizzard)

NYC: 9.8 inches with 10 straight days sub freezing
EWR: 8.4 inches

we got a lot more than 9.8 inches here in western Long Island with all day blizzard conditions, more like 15-16 inches!  Those were the good old days....

Is the faster jet stream occurring because the atmosphere is trying to balance out the heat and spread it more equitably?

If we could only slow the NS enough so that GFS STJ streak could amp enough then maybe we could have some potential. But I would want to see agreement between the GFS, CMC, and Euro first. Don’t trust any individual OP runs beyond 120 hrs in this pattern.

Thanks, Tony, I loved reliving this, especially seeing the yellow radar reflectivity bands just sitting over us for hours!  Do you have links like this for the January 2016 HECS too?

Tell that to the NE forum crowd

this is what stat geeks say when they don't understand science.

we see this all the time in sports, some phantom goddess called *luck* is blamed when there are rational scientific reasons for everything.

hint: if it was *luck* it wouldn't keep happening over and over again.

Judge's bad performance in the playoffs... *luck*... sure keep telling yourself that (I'm sure he does too lol.)

Something to watch for…

Perhaps a -pna would be better for us in this set up

Good grief why????  This was never going to be anything of substance for them to begin with.  Unless you go back 10 days or so with a few rogue runs.   Melting down over what?  They need to unburden themselves from what was never going to be.

When you accept this setup just wasn’t favorable for bringing anything N of Philly, it sucks but you accept it. Nothing any of us can do. It was clear 48-60 hours ago this was likely to be suppressed to crap. We average more than south of Philly and at some point we’ll likely get something. Unless this winter goes straight to -PNA/+NAO and endless cutters which is always possible.
