In 2015 I couldn't see my stacks of wood, had to really dig to get at it.
jbenedet
The early Jan pattern —I’m seeing a number of synoptic scale parallels to the period which produced the blizzard of 96. Weenies will of course take this and run with it…but so much still has to break right for a similar outcome. Of course timing is everything but main point here is I see SNE, and especially mid Atlantic in best spot for significant snowfalls after the late December warmup.

wxsniss
And while we have a fresh example, put me in the column of folks who are a little delighted (relieved?) to see that Euro-AI was completely useless this last event. Wonder how the Google GenCast that received all this media hype a few weeks ago did…

I live up in Haddon Heights- next county north. Had about 1.5 here on non paved areas- nice to see. Our Camp on north side of Whiteface Mountain in the 'Dacks continues to get slow buildup of fluff from upslope. Was there last weekend and caught a hefty lake effect band oscillate through...nice to see the mood snow her in South Jersey.

This is why my area has struggled so much over the last 8 years or so.....big coastals are hit or miss here, but SWFE are my bread and butter, but they have been noticeably absent due to the lack of favorably positioned/timed +PP. CJs are of course 95% misses.
weathafella
How does Paris, the most amazing city I’ve ever visited not be on that list which is predicated on how long web users look at images (a ridiculous metric which probably would make a bloody scene #1)? With that said, snowy downtown Boston in the holiday season is pretty great as it is other times of the year.

Spanks45
Finished up with 1.6" after the light snow early this morning. Regardless of the snow, might be able to go below zero here Sunday night on a clear calm night. First time in almost 2 years. Great December for this neck of the woods, hoping WOR crowd can regain some dominance after a lack luster half decade or so...currently 27.3⁰ 1

With that said, snowy downtown Boston in the holiday season is pretty great as it is other times of the year. We ran a very similar study back in 2004 in which participants were shown photos of people. Those with the 2nd longest stare rates were of people who satisfied the traditional 20th century/modern concepts of "beauty." (That has a higher degree of subjectivity, to be sure.) But the photos that were looked at longest were images of obviously grotesque, malformed, or extremely terrified people. The theory was that looking at something pleasing elicits less complex brain responses versus looking at something terrifying or morbid or in pain. Brain wave analysis seems to confirm that. Sorry, Boston. (just kidding.)
