Will measure at 7am but eyeballing 3” to 3-1/2”.  Wind getting a bit gusty.  Looks really wintry!  Snow is very dry and blowing off rooftops.  Still steady light snow ongoing.  Temperature 26.

Rapid cyclogenesis is happening right off the jersey coast atm. Winds have also picked up with the moderate to heavy snow here . Never know where these pesky meso lows pop up rounding the base of any trough.

Just woke up and took a nice walk outside in the gorgeous silence of a fresh snowfall.  As of 5:30 am, we're up to 2.6", which is 1.2" the past 3 hours or 0.4" per hour and the radar loop from the last 3 hours looks like the snow was pretty steady for most of NNJ/CNJ (N of 195) and all of NYC and it still looks pretty good for another hour or two.  Temp is down to 31F and all paved surfaces are covered with about 1" of snow.  Huge overperformer - think we'll make it to 3" as the latest HRRR still shows another 1/2-3/4" for most of NNJ/CNJ (especially the eastern half as the back edge of precip approaches) - as I said when they posted the advisories last evening, Middlesex County should've been part of it.

No model had any disturbance firing up along our area,enhancing our snowfall. Also there are going to be squalls right behind as you can see them developing on radar

Might get close to 4 depending on the last hurrah banding. Here in the bx big over performer so far and still snowing pretty good. 1.5 -2 here

Selected NWS reports, i.e., only from stations reporting after about 1 am (except for SNJ where the snow ended earlier), since any reports before that would be incomplete. A general 2-4" for the advisory counties (everything N of 276/195 in PA/NJ, except for Monmouth and Middlesex) and for Middlesex too.

It's actually our second snowfall, we had one about 2 weeks ago but it changed to rain in the middle of the night and there was nothing left of it in the morning.

No idea how much fell, but it had to be at least 0.5" here and I saw reports of 1" in Suffolk County.

I wonder how NYC didn't get anything from that one?
