WinterWolf
What’s ironic is back in the beginning of December…there were folks complaining it doesn’t really get cold anymore. …so the weather gods must have heard the cry, and said we can take care of that. Let’s see if we can get some single digits in Florida and kill every orange tree…that would be newsworthy and get some attention.
Damage In Tolland
That’s a Dec 89 look on the Euro. Didn’t snow that month but bitter cold . Then winter ended

CoastalWx
Lots of big cold in FL during the 80s. Time to blast Whitesnake, look into Kevin’s eyes and ask myself is this love that I’m feeling. 6

CoastalWx
Maybe we can get an ice storm at Augusta National to take out the rest of the Georgia pines. 2 2

It’ll get cold, but it will snow I’d say EPS supports it to some extent. It tries to slide the PV into the CONUS. Of course the euro was extreme and it may not happen to that extent, but that’s a cold look. If that were to happen, we probably would have a snow risk at it relaxes some.
Snowcrazed71
And didn't the Euro just go through a major upgrade? It seems to be back on track with its forecasting. Not sure what anyone thinks on that.
dendrite
Yeah you’re not going to get 492 thicknesses on a d15 ensemble mean. Even if every member had it you’d have timing differences. EPS is cold.

weatherwiz
Have to find the link for airmass trajectory but I wonder if that modeled airmass has any traces back to like Siberia. Looks like it's just about as cold, if not, colder at 925 than it is at 850 under the core cold of the airmass. Isn't that like a staple of airmasses with Siberian origin? ORH_wxman
The EPS has the core of the cold anomalies over the TN valley…double digit negative anomalies at 850mb at 300 hours. That’s impressive for an ensemble mean that far out. Decent place for the cold anomalies too. Like @dendrite said, we prob don’t want them over our head in early January. Maybe in late Feb or Mar we do, but not early January if you want snow.

Sorry to hear that for sure. Did that one year at Sunday River myself. Sucked. Simply nothing to do. I went out one day in the pouring rain for a couple runs and called it. Terrible. Hope it turns around for you or there’s a silver lining somewhere.
