Noticing a trend yet the few times it does snow around here? I hope you never have to live through a massive EOR season in this place

I almost spit out my coffee when I saw CEF was -10 lol. I really didn't pay attention to how low temperatures could get last night so I was totally off guard. I mean I knew it was going to be frigid but not -10 frigid. If someone had asked me what the temp was outside I maybe would have said single digits...but it makes total sense now based on how quickly the cold ate me.

Maybe if we're lucky we get some snow squalls Tuesday night, though verbatim best chance would be north and west.

Also looks like there could be some severe weather risk in southeast Texas and Louisiana around Feb 5th

I was kinda hoping they'd still have snow piles in the foreground of photos while tornadoes are in the background of the same image.    But then I figure... no one owns and plows or shovels so -

I can't even imagine the kind of money someone could make down there if they have a plow on the front of their truck.

I'm here to report that I've acquired a growing flock of bluebirds over the last few days.  Now up to 8 birds. Kinda cool to watch them raid the feeders which are in the shade, then fly up to the trees and all sit with their backs facing the sun to warm up.

-12.9 last night

No warming help from the lake. The lake is very low and the Lakeport dam is discharging (leaking) the minimum possible amount of water, so the entire channel has been frozen for a quite a while now. Even solid ice under the bridge, which I don't think has ever happened before.

5 in a row at BDL <20 (3rd longest streak behind 1979 and 1918). 6 in a row at BOS (second behind 1918).

That 1917-18 week set a lot of records.  NYC had temps of 8/-6, 2/-13, 6/-7, 10/-4, 10/2, 12/0, 18/-3.   Week average: 9.4/-4.4/2.5
A century later (and a lot farther north) we bridged into the new year with 6/-16, -3/-14, -1/-31, 7/-25, 1/-18, 1/-24, 6/-27  Week average:  2.4/-22.1/-10.9

One of those days it was mid -10s here in the afternoon. Totally unheard of for here.

Edit. Take that back. That was Dec 1933.
