Season snowfall to date ending Jan 13th 2025.

I'll probably do another update in a month in Feb then again in Mar as these are very time consuming.

If anyone has anything they want to add or change let me know. I used data from here (new england snow page), COOP, CoCoRahs and the 5 climo sites.

24-25 snowfall maps so far and seasonal snowfall https://www.jdjweatherconsulting.com/past-storms-24-25

much better phasing signal with the super amplified +PNA

i think this is even more idiosyncratic than the wholesale PNA consideration.

i mean don't get me wrong - you know me, i'm a big proponent of telecon.   but this is really about a down-pulse in the hemispheric cold expression at 500 mb.   as Will also highlighted over in the event thread, there a coherent relaxation in the depth and circumvallate gradient around the spv/ long wave, and as it lifts out ...that trailing end has a chance to curl up on the flow.

here's the 12z gfs version of that ... there still positive slope on the final ejectio out of the west, but this ridge position in the west ( your +PNA notwithstanding - ) is in a much better position to support eastern continental/mid latitude wave amplitude.  If this trough should ever curl around even neutral?  that easily becomes a bomb on the right with that ridiculous amount of sfc to 800 mb b-c gradient between..etc.

Heads up to folks out there.  There's a nasty virus going around. I thankfully very rarely catch any bugs. Probably been 25 years since the last time. Last night I started shaking uncontrollably, severe headache and pressure in the forehead. The girlfriend had it earlier in the week and a neighbor as well.

Yeah friends in the medical field have mentioned this as well. Doctors offices are flooded with overflow from ER.

I had something weird happen to me last night.    I run my school ski club. I basically sit in the Wachusett base lodge while the kids ski in case they need anything.  So, time to leave.  I had been sitting and standing inside for 4 hours.  Go to walk to my car.  Maybe 300 feet.  And it was chilly…20F, but nothing bad

When I got to my car, I had the worst case of shivering I can ever recall experiencing   I could barely open the door to the car and start it   It lasted around 3 or 4 minutes   I almost called 911, then it went away
