Without a big coastal it’s very unlikely. And in fast flow Pac pattern winters we don’t get those. So it will be very hard to nickel and dime our way to even that number before warm flip in mid Feb . Obviously hope you’re right , but do not think you will be

I certainly could be wrong…but I feel an average winter here is possible. And a big coastal is indeed possible with the large amount of time that’s left.   So we’ll see at the end of March.

Same here but the wind prevents middles from freezing

Most of the small ones I’ve seen here are frozen all the way but def some larger ones are open in the middle. The reservoirs in Southborough were open in the middle 2 days ago. But these smaller ponds near here that are nestled in basins with tall trees around them seem to be totally frozen.

That's where I live. Right between the reservoirs. Still open in spots.

BOS had almost 6” in the 12/20 event so they are BN but not horrifically like other spots further west. Just south of BOS is really bad on the south shore right on the coast.

I can't imagine anyone is further below normal than I am at 2" on the season...maybe a tiny sliver just N of me in se NH?

CON is AN for Jan through today, but the ponds are deeply solid. It’s been 20/10ish here all week.

How much above normal? Can't be much. Been very cold here compared to recent years. S*** 2023 was 9° above normal. Concord had a couple torch days to start the month but since then it's been solidly below normal.

None of the larger lakes are fully safe. Anything that opened up with that warm spell is still questionable even here above 1000'.

Got out in Hubbardston today though! About 8".

I see the shiner bucket. Thank God there wasn't a wind or your hands would be cold.

And whose fault is that?

There’s your problem…put on a good winter  coat, and you’ll be glad you did.

So much work to put all those layers on.

If I have to go somewhere I’ve been wearing thermal PJs under my pants, thermal socks, a light pullover shirt, then a regular shirt, light jacket, sweatshirt or two, plus a winter jacket, hat, facemask, and gloves. That helps a little bit but it’s exhausting getting it all on, especially the PJ pants because when you put your pants in it takes the bottoms up and you have to do weird moves to pull them down.

Terrible, some places in Central and Western Mass have has maybe 6-8 inches but the coast has been terrible so far.

That sucks. I swore I would keep up with every Boston winter even after I moved away, but here I am, the sell out.

I should also have clarified I meant next Friday.

I don't wanna put this pressure on myself, but maybe, just maybe, could I be bringing the snow?

Are you kidding me ??  Where the Fook do you think you are, Deadhorse, Alaska?  It ain’t that cold out.  Put on a decent base layer, good sweat shirt, and a heavy winter coat, and you’ll be good to go.  If you feel it’s that cold, put a scarf on too.  You might be putting too much shit on.

Ok, wind you can chill the f out now..we get it polar vortex, you want us to suffer whenever we dare step outdoors. But you know it’d be really friggin cool if you know, you could just calm it down for an hour, capiche?

If you could that would be great.
