If the groundhog sees his shadow do we get 6 more weeks of actual winter or 6 more weeks of this winter?

Got 4 weeks before that even happens… And then 6 more weeks of actual winter, or this dry and cold, gives 10 more weeks of whatever.   Gonna be a long haul.  Something will give.

Yeah, the cold air will give when the next system comes.

Man, it’s been bad but we've reached the nadir when we’re basically giving up on January 3rd. I guess we can always give up on Thanksgiving next year.
Nah, we have reached the point where I legit saw someone from Wisconsin in a Discord server hyping up the hr600-814 0z GEFS for cutter season while a ridge forms on the east coast

Well Scott if that is the case, wondering what the "lowest" recorded snow fall in my city has ever been, sitting @ almost 2" total so far (avg. 50-55"+/-)

Knitting class now/Red Sox bus getting ready...what a shit show lol

Well Nina Feb, but maybe this one is different. I honestly don’t know and haven’t looked.

Idk…looks like sustained seasonable cold for a week+…nothing extreme though. It’s more like maritime arctic cold (or at least taint) wrapping around our way from the block.

Yeah I mean after the last 2 Jan's it's a pretty  solid stretch of sustained winter like cold. It would be a great stretch if we had a snowpack to maintain.

Does look colder across NNE at times, especially for the upslope areas. Lots of deep mixing and downsloping on this side of the terrain.

Pathetic cold snap.. highs slightly below average in the peak cold of climo maybe a day or two of 20s down here with lows  in the teen

But if you think about it, we haven't had a cold snap that was sustained for over a week in quite some time. We would have a couple of days of real cold and then back to 50. So, in essence, we are getting a true winter blast... We're just not having the snow with it. There's no way we're going to go snowless through the rest of the winter. I'm sure of that.

Yeah prob a lot of -6 to -8 type days. Average highs in SNE are in the low to mid 30s and a lot of days are going to be in the 20s for highs.

Not arctic cold but somewhat BN. That’s probably ideal though if you aren’t going to snow…it freezes all the ponds and keeps skiing in solid shape for the winter sports people while also not utterly destroying our heating bills and making it overwhelmingly uncomfortable outside.
